No, obviously I didn't mean lose, I meant loose.

If you lose them, you can't get them back, it much better to loose them and then tighten them afterwards.

    Get with the program man!

Some settings are stored in the non-volatile memory on the circuit board, some on the drive. Yes, when you switch back and forth between drives, the settings stored on that drive are maintained. And you could have many drives if you wish, one for sports, one for kids shows, one for movies, etc.

    Cheers,
    Tom

However, note that adding an external drive will still allow you to get VOD if you are getting it with the internal drive currently. :allthumbs:

You will not lose VOD by adding an external drive - I just added one yesterday and VOD is working fine. BMoreRavens's post seems to be pointed at replacing the internal drive as opposed to adding an external drive. Perhaps he can confirm that is what he meant. I can confirm, through my own experience, that VOD and the hidden menu remain intact after adding an external drive, if you had VOD working off of the internal drive previously.

Or, just plug in and power up the eSATA drive, connect to HR20, and then reset the HR20 through the menu. Easier if you can't get to the power cord. :D

    Thanks for the correction.

I was actually talking about adding a external drive and not replacing the internal drive. I do not have one yet but I was going by the post below from Earl.

Does anyone know if the 750 gb seagate drive from circuit city comes with a chord? If not, where is the best place to get one?

I have seen several mentioned, but it has also been mentioned that some need cutting to fit. I need a solid fitting cable because once I set this up, getting to it is a royal PITA.

Thanks for that clarification. I am, indeed, getting VOD now and even though there's not much there and at 1.5 download speeds it is very slow, I have been enjoying playing with it. Glad to hear it won't go MIA when I install the Seagate.

I bought from Newegg, when I added the drive to my cart there was a combo deal for the enclosure with $5 off. The enclosure is a Rosewill and it's an awesome little enclosure. Actually has an 80mm fan to keep the drive cool and it runs at such a low speed that you can't hear it at all. It's eSATA and USB 2.0 and comes with both cables. It comes in Black also, but I didn't care about the color as it's hidden behind the HR20 in my rack.

    Just picked up the:

LaCie d2 eSATA II 3Gbits Hard Drive
    SATA II (eSATA single port)
    500GB
    @ lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?pid=10811

for $200 shipped to my door. It came with the correct cable and works great so far.

Absolutely no problem hooking it up.
