ESPN announced that its new, 120,000-square-foot HD digital-production facility will open in Bristol, Conn., June 7 with the premiere of SportsCenter in HD.

The ESPN Digital Center will house 7 million feet of cable and three HDTV studios totaling 17,000 sq. ft. ESPN said the center's screening room will allow for immediate computer editing of highlights.

Final completion of the project is scheduled for 2005. -Multichannel News

Just heard from someone who works at ESPN, and as Mini1's post mentions, the date is now first of June.

    It's worth the wait.

The ESPN facility is awesome, from the outside at least! I must have snapped about 40 pictures when I was there. If only my front yard could look like that :D

Here's a pic of the crew assembling a new dish, I assume it might have something to do with going digital, and another of me standing in front of the sign. I should put up a few other one of these days.

Well, all I know is; I'm watching NCAA Girls Semi-Finals, right now, at what appears to be full 1080i. Looks better than anything I've ever seen on ESPN-HD. Outstanding!

Thanks for sharing the pics, Steve.

Thats odd! When I tuned into the game, my Hitachi said it was 720P. And as you say, picture was superb.

    I love this stuff!

It probably is, Mini, but my 921 is set at 1080i, and I'm not aware of a way to see the original programming's resolution. Regardless, when I click the TV's INFO button, it just shows 1080i ~ all day, every day. :)

Anyway, it will be nice when their new studio is open for business.
