I'm a TW cable and internet customer and ESPN3 has been working for me for at least the past week, if not longer. It's definitely been "rolled out".

I just went to Espn3 and TimeWarner is not listed in their drop down list of isps. Which isp did you choose to get past that window?

I don't recall ever having the option to choose anything. I just go to the ESPN3.com and it works. I did have U-verse for internet a couple of months ago, so I was using ESPN3.com then. I have no idea how or why it works now, but it does. I'm watching some soccer match on there right at the moment. The video looks excellent.

after gathering myself from the shock, i have found a way into espn3. if you have an espn.com account, you can use it to utilize the remote access feature. it just let me in. how long it lets me stay in remains to be seen.

actually, an article saturday at orlandosentinel.com said espn3 would be rolled out about 10/25 for time warner customers. but since i discovered the secret handshake saturday, i don't care.

I thought I would try this out and even though I have an espn.com account when I click on remote access I get the drop down requiring me to choose an isp (time warner is not listed yet).
So it won't work for me.

It's baffling to me why it works for me. What exactly is ESPN3 checking for? I would have thought it had to do with IP addresses, but if so why is my Roadrunner account working fine for ESPN3? I'm not even sure how long it's been working for, but now that I think about it it's been at least 3-4 weeks. The moment I read that ABC/ESPN and TWC had come to a carriage agreement that included ESPN3 I remember going to ESPN3.com to check it out and it worked fine. Is this a carryover somehow from when I had U-Verse for internet?

It's based on your ISP when you signed up for the ESPN.com account, or, if you are currently on an ESPN3 ISP, then it will update your account.

I don't see AT&T doing that. They don't offer U-Verse in a majority of their areas. It would make more sense for them to use ESPN3 for non-video customers as a selling point to get internet subs to switch from TWC

It checks your IP to see which ISP you're using. So, yes, if you signed up for your ESPN.com account while you were using AT&T or another ESPN3 provider, then your account will be enabled for remote viewing on ESPN3

That's how you can work around it..go to a friend's house or work or somewhere with ESPN3 access and sign up for an ESPN.com account and enable remote viewing. Only downside to this is that I don't think you can enable remote viewing from a college campus network, which ESPN gives access to for free.

When you go to ESPN3, does it say provided by AT&T or provided by Time Warner? There should be a prominant display on the home page.

I played that game for a little while before I moved and now have access through my ISP. Remote access only worked for a fixed period of time. I had to occassionaly re-sync my account from an ISP that had it.

Okay, today's article contradicts the others in that you will have to have both TW cable and RR for espn3.com. Some of the previous ones seem to indicate that the ISP piece was irrelevant.

"Under the deal, the authenticated service will provide Time Warner Cable customers who subscribe to a video package containing ESPN online access to the linear channel, according to ESPN spokeswoman Amy Phillips. TWC customers who subscribe to both broadband and a cable TV package with ESPN also will have access to ESPN3.com, the sports programmer's live sports portal that carries 3,500 events annually."

Mine also says Frontier. I don't even know what that is. I've only ever had U-Verse and Roadrunner for my ISP.

Computer was brand new. I've even wiped and formatted the drive, too. And I've never signed up for an ESPN.com account of any kind. And yet, ESPN3.com works perfectly for me.

Yep, the details were released here locally yesterday. If you sub to interenet only, you will not get ESPN3 from Time Warner. Plus, it sounds like you will have to authenticate each time with username and password maybe. Surely the 6 weeks they have been wasting on this will result in something automatic, but who knows.

This sucks overall and hurts competition. DirecTV should be fighting this as they are not an ISP and if all the Cable and Phone compnaies do this the next time, it will be one more check box in the other column when comparing DirecTV.
