Add me to the list for DTV's site ... I replied to one of their surveys about the site like maybe 6 months ago and compalined about the slowness of the site. Didn;t seem to do much good. So unless I REALLY need to go to their site I prefer to use TitanTv.com for general program listings & searching. It's much faster. I wish DTV would HEAR us.... (Oh, and I also agree that VZN is right up their with DTV as far as slowness & usefulness.)

I consistently get error dialog boxes from directv.com indicating that a script running on the page is making it run slowly and giving me the option to allow the script to continue running or not.

So I don't believe it is related to rendering complex graphics.

Rather I believe it's the spyware script running that they run to download all my personal information from my PC to DirecTV.

I'm a software designer, and you left out some important items:
    1. Net connection on the server (webpage) side
    2. Amount of Flash/Java/etc...
    3. Amount of database calls
    4. Number of users

They are the same site. If you type in m.directv.com, you get sent to the http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/mobile/ web address. I actually typed in m.directv.com to go to the site, then I just copied and pasted the address into my post.

Either one works, and once you set a bookmark you won't ever have to type in anything.

I think some people here aren't understanding the original poster though. It's not the entire DirecTV site that is slow, it's mostly just the online programming guide that you can use to set up recordings (I think the PPV/On Demand listings are bad too though).

Hum, not to doubt you, but again using Chrome and clicking on the tv guide and after signing in, was able to pull up the page in 6 seconds (about 5 sec before signing in). Looks like it's based off of a java platform? Has everybody updated java to 6v20 (latest release?) Could be just using win7 with a ton of ram helps :)

OMG, Verizon's site is painfully slow, by far the worst site I visit.

I've seen slower...not many but some. There's another satellite site that loads quite slow for me and is usually slower than DirecTV's site, but I think some of what's going on locally will affect page load times...e.g. firewalls, popup blockers, etc.

I usually have popup/malware/spam blockers set to the maximum so I may be a poor judge of just how fast some sites are.

Proof that website designers should offer a bare-bones version. There are still a lot of people running Win XP with dial-up! (I'm not one of them)

I would like to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th the slowness of both DirecTv and Verizon's websites.
I have used my iPod Touch to acces the DirecTV app and it is often still just as slow or timing out. It isn't just my home connection, it is the same on my office connection, or even when I tried to schedule a recording while sitting at a near empty brew pub and using thier WiFi connection.

The satellite guys website is pretty damn slow. It's full of ads.
There's less ads if you register, and supposedly less ads or zero ads if you want to pay to use their website.
