Yeah, I didn't think I'd see this today:

The Nasdaq hit a 5 day high earlier today and is still up slightly over Friday's close. But Google's down right now, so who knows?

Thing is some folks sold over 50 million shares today. How much of that was day-trading involving buys and sells today, I don't know. But my guess is somebodies took a loss today.

It will be interesting. The Silicon Valley Mercury News headline this morning is Facebook Stock Sinks to New Low Amid Rumors of Opera Browser Acquisition. In addition to the news story, there is also Analysis: Buying Opera would cost Facebook more than $1 billion .

This is the downside of going public with the founders holding a different class of stock that keeps them in control. For them, spending a billion here and a billion there really doesn't add up to much money. Outsider shareholders, on the other hand, are going to be nervous.

EDIT: There was also this story Facebook headed for another record in first day of options trading.

    Agreed. Greed.

It's also not such a good stock for the short term, either......

Unless you shorted it, it's too late for that with Facebook.

I have more faith in the stock of the company that I work for than in Facebook stock. I also have better faith in the financials of the company that I work for than in Facebook.

As near as I can tell, first thing this morning 2.9 million shares sold for $28.41. Right now smaller volumes are selling at prices like $28.75.

Hmmmm.... if the employees received any stock grants, I heard they cannot cash them in for 90 days once FB went public. Will there be anything left in 90 days?
