It's in HD in N.O., FOX's PQ is definately off on both OTA and SAT, but it's in HD.

Hm. I'm not getting it on Sunday Ticket in San Francisco. It's not even in my guide.

It's in HD just the picture quality isn't that great. Might have something to do with the dome.

It does. The SD PQ was horrible.

Funny thing though, on Red Zone channel, they carried it full screen and it looked much better than the SD feed which was 4:3 and dark. The FS version was not HD but was much clearer (probably because it was upconverted and carried on the RZ HD channel).

A couple of times I have seen the SD Widescreen version on the RZC. Then you get the better bandwidth and better resolution of the HD channel downstream so the PQ doesn't get any worse than it was originally.

And uprezzing with expensive studio type equipment is better than uprezzing in your DVR or your TV. That is why unstretched SD on the new HD channels looks so much better than the SD channels themselves.

I wasn't sure myself if it was HD or not. When they were zoomed out to show a wide field view, it clearly seemed to NOT be HD.

But, when they were isolated on the sideline reporters or a player on the field, the quality looked better than SD to me...

I figured it was a camera or production problem.

    An enlightening thread.

I was wondering why it looked so horrible.

My HR20 and TV indicated it was in 720p, but it sure as hell didn't look like 720p!

So, it was 480[something], widescreen, upconverted to 720p. I believe it (based on the PQ). :(

    Good game though...

Well remember that Fox does 720p. Most affiliates are 720p *all the time* even when showing SD. The SD is just upconverted. Same like ESPN, it's 720p all the time, SD is just upconverted. So your receiver will show it as 720p all the time.

That explains why it looked like crap.
