A friend asked me to upgrade his older DTV setup. The original install is approx. 12-15 years old. According to him, he has all the gear for the new install. I'm hoping I can get some recommendations/confirmation.

Couple of basic questions. Like I said, first time installing DTV.
    - Can I use the old SLN5? Or should I install the new one?
    - How many receivers can be hooked up to the SLN5? He wants 5 H25-500s
    - There is three coax off the existing SLN5. Do I need more?
    - What power adapter do I need to hook up?

    Old equipment questions.
    - Do I need to use the old BBC (SUP-2400)?
    - The old install had CPL94B inline adapters for IR. I plan on removing these.
    - The old install had some digimax drop amps installed. I plan on removing these.

I know he has a 8 way SWM splitter, not sure if he has any other equipment.

Just looking for some help or a wire diagram for this install would be great as its my first DTV install. Thanks!

This setup will be totally different from what you have now.
The LNB needed will have only 1 output.
The LNB need a power inserter to communicate with the receivers.
The BBC is no longer needed with the new system ( SWM ).

I would suggest Calling D* and Having "look" at the Dish and rework all the outside cable - IF his Dish is that old is it a Round 18" Dish or the old A-9 With a side car LNB - IF so you will need to replace the dish in order to use a NEW SWM LNB.

Swm -Supports 8 Channels (tuners) Each H25 has one tuner for a total 5.

Newer SWM LNB can support 21 Channels (or Tuners).

One Down lead to Top input of 8 way Splitter PI-21 (port 1) All other Inside Cable Port 2 thru 8

Thanks for the quick responses. The dish on the side of the house is an elliptical and not the round 18". I was able to get a pic of the dish and LNB.

    That is the proper dish.
Look at the additional instructions in WestDC post.

While that is the proper dish, is not the proper LNB (at least as standalone). You can either hang a SWM switch off that LNB or use a SWM LNB instated of the longer pictured here. Switch will require a 29v and LNB will require a 21v power supply.
