The grand prix of Silverstone will not be recorded on Sunday, 12:00 PM on FOX, if you also have the same issue with the HRxx DVR:

-Practice, on July 6 at 09:00 am, ch 607 , has the worong "first aired" as being 2011 instead of 2012 , on the guide.
-The race on FOX, at 12:00 PM Sunday, is not being picked up by the series manager.
-The qualifier is the only one OK, on Saturday on ch 607.

My HR picked the race on ch 607 at 11:30PM Sunday but this is the replay and not the first aired.

Completely messed up, better do everything manually.

    Good catch.
I was setting up a new DVR so have these set manually, but verified my other DVRs wouldn't have recorded these unless there was a update to the guide data.

The worst part is the "12:00pm on Fox" - I HATE those tape-delayed showings of F-1. First, because they are tape-delayed. Second, because the commentators, who are the same ones that usually call the race on Speed, think they are getting first time viewers that haven't' watched a single F-1 race in their lives and treat all viewers as non-F-1 fans.

Thanks slimoli! I didn't realize Friday's practice was not going to be recorded (due to wrong first aired date) until I saw your post. Got it set now.

Thought I must have screwed up something! My HR34 did pick up both the practice and qualifying but not the race. I think I remember this happening once before a year or to ago. Thanks for your timely post.

Practice recorded here, no issues even though the date is 2011.

I routinely check my To-Do List during F1 season and I noted this in advance. I have autorecording set up on both channels and I was a little surprised not to see the FOX broadcast in the To-Do List. I wonder if the issue might be that those of us who have autorecording set up for F1 programming on both SPEED and FOX might have encountered a situation where it thinks the two broadcasts are the same program (well, they are) and so defaulted to the one with higher priority, which in most cases is likely to be the SPEED broadcast? I always thought the "duplicate broadcasts" thing was limited to the same program on the same channel, so for example if you record South Park on Wednesday night and they re-air the same episode on Saturday on the same channel it won't record the re-airing. But maybe it's gotten smarter than that?

Regarding the comment by "TravelFan1" about the commentary being dumbed down, I have no problem with the idea of them explaining some of the nuances of F1 for new viewers because they should WANT to attract new viewers, but I think they ought to approach it differently. Early in the broadcast, perhaps in the 15-minute pre-race segment, they ought to say, "Since we're on FOX this week we expect some of you may be new to F1 and more accustomed to NASCAR or Indy Car racing. We'd like to explain a few of the ways F1 racing is different so that you can understand what to expect." Then explain the tyre rule (I think they NEVER explain that in a way that's clear to new viewers), pit stop strategy (one pit stall per team shared by two cars and no refuelling), the DRS system, and the point system. That way it's all explained quickly at the beginning.

Edited to add: BTW, one reason I always check the To-Do List in advance of F1 races has to do with past problems. Some of you might recall how last fall they screwed up the program listing for the Indian GP and it was split into two pieces in the program guide. The first hour was listed as one program and the second 90 minutes as a separate one. Stuff like that makes me wary, so I always double-check now. Plus I never have time to watch practice so I just delete that in advance....

My HR34 didn't record what I expected, while my HR24 needed a bit of help.
I record both the Fox and Speed programs through separate SLs.
For some reason the 34 came back with canceled due to the program already being in the playlist at the time of the broadcast [for the later race on Speed]. Well I didn't agree with this because I'd recorded and deleted the Fox recording, and the 24 was the only one that was recording at the time, but the 34 & 24 have many double recordings going on as I transition to the 34.

Now "the help" the 24 needed was it wasn't going to record when I checked it and when I asked it to, it came back with a conflict and I had to select which to cancel. Since my F1 SLs are 1-5, their priority are well above the two other programs which are down in my 30s.

    Here we go again:

Grand Prix of Germany didn't pick up the FOX live race. I deleted both Speed and FOX SLs and reprogrammed them. All first run were picked , including the FOX live. After a while, checked the todo list again and the FOX live was gone, replaced by a repeat on Speed at 9:00 PM. Changing the priority between Speed and FOX made no difference.
I have been recording F1 for a long time and never noticed this before. Last year all the first run on FOX and Speed worked just fine.

I work out of the home office, so after seeing the comment from "slimoli" I just went and checked my DVR and it had the same problem. Oddly, the "Series Manager" list showed two upcoming episodes of "Formula One Racing" on SPEED (German qualifying and the race; I had previously deleted practice from the to-do list per my usual routine) but NO upcoming episodes of "Formula One Racing" on FOX, even though the program guide shows the German GP on July 22 at noon. Also, I noticed that when I selected the SPEED entry it showed me the next "episode" (German qualifying), whereas when I selected the FOX entry it showed me a listing for the Canadian GP last month (not even Silverstone or Valencia). I double-checked the program listings and there's nothing in the title or elsewhere that should cause the German GP not to record (for example, it's not listed in the program guide as "F1 Racing" or "German Grand Prix," either of which would cause the DVR to treat it as a different "series" from "Formula One Racing").

Very messed up, and like "slimoli" I recall it working fine last year with the exception of the Indian GP problem I mentioned earlier. At least the German GP is the final one airing on FOX this year, so hopefully the problem will go away on its own.

......long way of saying, double-check your to-do lists!

Think I'm as big a fan of F1 as anyone.
I know DirecTV is looking into the problem I had with the race not recording on my 34 off of Speed.

I too have checked my SLs and the Fox hasn't yet shown up.

I'm not too worried [yet] as it's eleven days away and the system is "up to 10 days" of advanced guide.
Yes, Speed is there, but I'm holding off forcing anything for a few more days.

Side note..Off Topic...The last 2 races have had some of the most exciting racing in quite some time. Hoping Germany continues this... Maybe Kimi or Romain can come thru for Lotus? :):)

Neither did my HR24. I get it all off one autorecord - Germany shows all the stuff except the race itself, so I set it just to be safe.

Doesn't look like the Fox airing of the race will without manually selecting it.
