Found this article on bad customer service

    Never had really good service from D*. ATT has, somehow, managed to be worse.

    I have always had Amazing service from DirecTV

    One time I called for an issue with a box. I called directv at 1300 est ... the tech came at 1430 same day and replaced the box ..

    I was blown away ..

    Also last year I got MLB EI and NFL ST free


    Never will a POS cable co be able to match the service I get from D*


    But back to the article.. cable companies can get away with bad service cause in a lot of areas there is no competition folks are stuck with their trash service.

    Many of us had great service from Directv.

    I get lucky once in a while with the new AT&T, but far less consistent than the old DirecTV. It takes me a while to gear up for a 45+ minute phone call to get a replacement remote control under the protection plan......

    As I wrote above I usually just deal with retention but I think it was in may 18 when I called and got that same day apt .

    Years ago when I called DIRECTV to upgrade to my first Genie the tech was at my house 4 hours later.

    I refuse to even call them any longer unless I absolutely have to and then demand to talk to a US based rep, which is getting harder and harder. The last call I made and that was answered by an off shore rep was to inquire about DNS service for my RV and they transferred me to the Uverse networking group! Oh, and I have NEVER had Uverse internet. Sigh..........

    DNS is domain name services. I can understand the confusion.

    Yeah, I understand that and I actually chuckled a bit before I hung up and tried contacting retention. I had even mentioned more than once that I was trying to get info on local channels outside my local spotbeam and they still couldn't connect the dots. You may call it confusion, I call it not having a clue what they are supporting.

    How does anyone call retention directly anymore ? I though that was long gone. The last time I called thinking I was getting transfered to Retention, I was then switched to the new VIP Operators after I had a disconnect Date.

    It's been discussed, all the way back to last summer if you do a search.

    I posted this in January, regarding the new VIP Team- Anyone call DirecTV and reduce their bill? Share stats here!

    I guess I had a old retention number. Will use when needed.
    I did get the dreaded switch to AT&T notice. Is this still good ?

    I'm still on legacy DirecTV billing. My brother was switched last year, and in addition to comments from others, it's definitely dreaded.
