what's interesting is that I am highly considering dumping HBO for the first time in over 20 years.. between Cable and 16 years of D*.. probably closer to 30 years..

I always check to see there are some movies I have not seen yet and record them. But my wife is hogging the DVR's for her Christmas movies.

    Working here.

In the past, the channels open at 6am eastern on the start date and end 6am eastern.

This freeview is working differently than previous offerings. We've been unable to record anything (get prompt that subscription is required), the channels didn't show on the guide until I changed from "channels I get" to "all channels", and when selecting a new movie channel we get a "loading" screen for ~5-10 seconds before picture and sound appear. Anyone else experiencing this?

I am not having any problems.

Yes, you have to choose, at least I did, the All channels to get them to show up.
The only thing I can think of on the loading situation is that it is trying to use the internet.

Try resetting your receiver. If that does not work try disconnecting from the internet.

I scheduled my recordings before they were available for the Free time. I got the message that I was not authorized and it asked if I wanted to schedule anyway. I chose yes and so far all of them have recorded.

DIRECTV should do something about their guide data. They were listing the original Italian Job to be shown on Cinemax, but it was the re- do with Mark Walburg and Donald Sutherland. I went to the Cinemax website, and their guide was accurate and showed the remake.
