Longer wait and (perhaps) more expensive. If its easy to run the coax, and you can do it yourself, and if have the coax, I'd doit--in fact I did it. :) Oh, yeah, and the HR20 is the only DVR that currently supports FTM directly.

Well that last line is kind of key which I didn't realize. They don't have an HR20, but might be getting one when HD locals come.

Typo on my part... I ment DIRECT OTA line (not DirecTV)

    If you have TWO Lines...

One line carries the OTA signal. Which you can use a splitter on to send an OTA to HR20 #1 and HR20 #2

The other line, that is setup with the FTM adapter, you can then use a splitter on and send 1 line to HR20 #1 and 1 line to HR20 #2

    There is no third cable.

Can't an OTA antenna be diplexed into the single coax coming from the FTM module, or into one of the non-FTM coax runs, and diplexed out again at the receiver end? Or, do diplexers no longer work with D*?

There are some scenerios where diplexing in an OTA to an FTM run may work, but it isn't going to be recommended.

    Thats a very intriguing hint.
Since we don't get HD locals from DTV here, and its not possible for me to run a second coax I have been pinning my hopes on FTM and an OTA antenna in my attic...

    Hi Earl,
Any updateds on FTM? I also have the problem of not being able to run another cable from the SAT to the Receiver. I presently have 2 (SAT and OTA). I will be reveicing the HR20 and the 5 LNB dish in about a month or so. I would like to keep the OTA as we have several channels here in the San Francisco Bay Area that are not included on the "locals" for Directv.
    All the best
