Probably not. But as a paying subscriber, I have two children that fall into that 12-24 age group that are living in my household; they account for 1/2 of our receivers.

I miss Tech TV, but I tolerate G4TV because if you get past some of the noise and the "titillation" shows, there are some interesting programming there. But as a replacement for
Leo Leporte's Tech TV, G4TV is sorely lacking.

I do enjoy some of the Japanese game shows they have like Ninja Warrior and The Unbeatable Bonzuke and I'll miss them on D*, but if an agreement can't be reached, then we'll see that message on the G4TV channel like VS had for that long time that they were negotiating with D*. If there's a market for it, they will settle.

Absolutely not. But that wasn't my point. IF the age group is 14-24, DirecTV shouldn't have made the decision based on subscribers alone as the age group tends to still live at home. I don't believe anyone in our household watched G4; I used to watch Tech TV daily (screen savers and call for help), but haven't turned in on since they became G4.

But I also don't want DirecTV to get rid of all the unique channels either.

my point was that DirecTV is not really concerned about losing a large number of subscribers since G4's target audience is 12 to 24. Since this group rarely controls the purse strings, the loss of 3 or 4 customers doesn't justify paying the per subscriber rate had they kept the channel.

Edit: DirecTV was paying Comcast .05 per subscriber for G4. According to my calculations that is around $4,000,000.00. If we base the average customer bill at a $100 a month, DirecTV would need to hear from at least 40,000 subscribers before this became a money losing deal for them.

I have to wonder if there were 40,000 people who even watched G4 on DirecTV

Yeah sometimes I like LINK more than FSTV. For obvious reasons how about MTV, VH1 and TLC. Not interested in that either

From what I've seen and heard I'm thinking the G4 is gone for good from the direcTV lineup. I'll miss X-play, but I think I can pick up a lot of that from the web.

This can be easily solved....Comcast can contract a package deal for it's channels, including CSN-Philadelphia and CSN-Northwest.....I guarantee you in a heartbeat that G4 would return of Comcast provided the sports channels.....they refuse to do that, however, since G4 disappears.

I don't know if someone noticed it, but the guide shows the current schedule on G4 even though it is no longer available. A glitch?????

It's just directv's way of saying "See, here's what's on G4 right now. You really weren't missing all that much."

Basically a big FU to G4 for wasting their bandwith so to speak.

I am sure each one of us has our own list of waste of bandwidth channels, and I am sure we all do not agree on which channels are a waste. My personal list has many many channels way ahead of G4, as a waste of bandwidth.

Didn't D* put the same notice when they were negotiating for VS? And didn't the guide listings return when the channel was going to return?

Looks like something's up, you think?
