G4 didn't use to be that way. It just became way too hipster.

I will miss Olivia Munn. I really had no other reason to watch that channel.

I've been missing her as it is. She hasn't been on AOTS in like 3 months... Part of me almost doubts she's coming back. If that's the case though, then regarding her replacement... Alison Haislip FTW. :D

I stopped watching soon after TechTV became G4TV...Sumi Das was my fav. Adam Sessler reminded me of Max Headroom - I enjoyed X-play.

Wow, I seem to be in the minority here (I guess that's the problem), but G4 is one of my favorite channels. In fact I've been scanning the board here for months, hoping for positive news about G4 HD.

Here in Manhattan, I'd have switched to Time Warner already, if not for a negotiated price break on Sunday Ticket this year (although my Bills are 0-6, but that's another topic). They've had G4 in HD for some time, along with BBC America, AMC, and E! It's quite vexing to know that there is plenty of capacity on D12 for those channels and more, so I don't see the argument for dropping G4 in favor of alternative programming.

Of course, it's all about the bucks, and DirecTV/Comcast aren't making their decisions based on any one individual's subscriptions. (I guess DTV will be losing this customer next year at this rate, tho.) Still, it seems petty to leave 30+ HD channels vacant, when the programming is out there. Those silent transponders aren't generating any revenue.

G4...an SD channel. No tears from me. Too bad you're still missing several channels on the Dish side.

As I said in another thread...G4 needs to do something to increase their value. DirecTV doesn't think they are worth more than $0.05 apparently, and I can't say that I disagree. G4 hasn't done much to raise the bar.

Yes, but we were contributing to the topic and can manage to keep up with the discussions. Big difference there.

For a very, very low rated SD channel? Right...

Anime Network is strictly VOD now. Funimation is the only 24/7 Anime channel now.

It's only an SD channel because DirecTV never added it in HD. Is one of the reasons DirecTV doesn't add HD feeds is so the lost is no big deal?

What G4 is doing to increase their value is the same reason that many people here dislike them. They went from being niche programming channel to a mainstream programming channel with certain niche elements. (Compare to CourTV becoming TruTV.) In this marketplace, the most obvious added value is HD (many people here freely admit to not watching any channel in SD) and G4 has added that and DirecTV doesn't carry it.

Well, it obviously hasn't worked. It's not exactly a hot commodity. It's still niche programming though.
