    I've had the HR34 for about an year now and I'm noticing odd behaviors.

    When I watch some recorded shows, the show will stop playing and freeze the frame until i fast forward, or there will be a chunk missing of recorded in the show and it skips over the missing time

    Any ideas?

    I don't use more than 10 - 20% of the drive.

    A reboot of the system can sometimes perk things up. And clearing the Guide can do some things, too. To do that, do two reboots within 30 minutes.
    Please let us know how those work out, as there are other possibilities.

    Well, you can. Thing is, for the second reboot to be useful, the first one needs to be completed- meaning, you have a picture to watch. Waiting ten minutes between them should do it if you want to only RBR and not menu restart.

    How do you reboot the box in the menus?

    Sorry for asking. Obviously, I never tried this.

    MENU -> SETTINGS -> SETTINGS ->RESET -> RESET RECEIVER

    And just to add, a menu reset is preferable over a Red Button Reset (RBR). It allows the receiver to shut down certain processes before restarting. Think of hitting the reset/power button on your PC as opposed to using the Shut Down/Reboot command within Windows as a comparison.

    Yeah, I think there was an outage in the system because when I was watching a recorded show, there was a Directv message, saying that they were having technical difficulties.
