After hours of pulling my hair out thinking there was an issue somewhere in my home theater setup, I came across a a bug in the latest update that was pushed to my Genie (HR44-700) on 6/25/2020. It was an "ah ha" moment (I was at my wits end trying to figure it out) when I finally checked the most recent update on the Genie and the date correlated exactly with when my problem started.

I have the Genie connected through my home theater receiver. Whenever I press 'Menu' or 'Select' on the Genie remote, an HDMI command is being sent that is either changing the HDMI input or power the receiver on if it is off. I assume this is happening via CEC, but I don't see a way to turn off CEC in the Genie menu.

Where should I report this bug? And since this is a major problem now trying to watch TV, I'm going to have to figure out a workaround hoping they eventually patch this issue (I'm guessing it is fairly widespread.)

Correct ... my original post and thread topic should have said Genie (HR44-700.) I have updated my post, but can't update the thread title.

The equivalent of CEC is "HDMI Control" under "Settings" ---> "Display" ---> "Video". And you can try turning that off to see if that works as a temporary workaround to this bug.

And reporting bugs after a national release is pretty much done just by calling tech. support.

    Yes I know, .... "Ugh". ....

I am going to try a few workarounds. Disabling CEC in
Thanks ... I was looking last night for the CEC equivalent and missed it right there at the bottom of Display --> Video. As mentioned, I meant to say Genie 1 HR44-700.

Is even the "Speed Test" feature still working correctly on your Genies since the update as discussed in the other thread?

    HR44 zero download speed

As mine (an HR54-500) and others sure aren't anymore ....

I have the same issue. I confirmed this is a work-around. Terrible one but yeah.

I called support. Convinced them to hand the issue to engineering. Then engineering closed it and I got a reply saying it was not a widespread issue. But this definitely started with the 0x13af update!

Yes, it's a bug in 0x13af. Yes, enginering knows all about it.
