I would disagree with you on this. Netflix is all my wife and I watch these days.

Netflix is great for movies, and tv seasons past, but you cant watch any current seasons of any tv series or live sporting events without some form of cable, OTA, or sat service. I'm sure there are households that can be quite happy with that, but I'd have to think thats in the minority of tv watchers.

Yes you can. Hulu has most ABC shows and stays current. Amazon & iTunes has quite a few current seasons available from multiple shows/networks.

Disagree. We are loving Netflix and are just now starting to appreciate PBS and BBC mystery offerings.

Yes, but Netflix can't give you RSN's in HD 24/7 now can it?

If you're just interested in non-sports programming - Netflix and the like could be a realistic alternative. Once you start talking about realtime sports coverage - cable or satellite is where it's at.

Hmmm. I record and watch them on PBS and BBCA and have appreciated them for years.

On the other hand, apparently I'm going to have to wait until 2012(?) to get my PBS HD local in HD. (That's a complaint, Dish Network.)

We also just got a HDTV Vizio 55" LED-LCD 1080p on 5-7-2011 and so far we are very impressed with not only the PQ of the HD channels, but the PQ of the SD channels as well with Dish Network's VIP722k/wMT2.:)

Now watching my RSN in SD since that's the only feed I'm getting. Dish is taking the HD feed and cutting off the right and left portions and putting black bars in place. Even the score isn't visible. This really sucks, Dish.

No, Dish is not doing that.

Fox is doing that and other networks are starting to follow suit, if you have a 4:3 display ESPN is now letterboxing their SD feed.

They are disregarding the 4:3 screen and placing their graphics all the way to the border of the 16:9 screen, granted they should be letterboxing instead of cropping, but that's the way it is.

Maybe Dish is doing that because FOX is not providing a letterboxed SD.

Horse hockey. Last night it was letter-box. I can deal with letter-box. Tonight it isn't. Dish should provide the program in HD. Again, this sucks, Dish.
