How do you make the request? Which station did they give you? WDCW?

Your comment does not make sense. You had CW and lost it but requested for the local CW. I think what you are trying to say is that you lost your local CW and applied for the DNS feed while it was gone. Narrow window probably but looks like it was granted. DNS feeds are able to be applied for any station D* is not carring in your market even if there is an affiliate but D* is not carrying them. The problem usually is that if its in a market that has CW and you are applying for a DNS feed the local station rarely grants a waiver but it does happen from time to time.

Im not sure if you would get to keep the DNS if they really trace it back though. Im pretty sure the law states that you can only keep it if you have it before LIL is rolled out into your market. I understand we are dealing with a coplex issue here because they had it and then took it away. My guess is the intention is not to allow people to keep the DNS while disputes arise over money. Then again most would not think a station holding out on D* for more money would be in the habbit of approving waivers either.

Long story short, enjoy it while you have it and also dont be surprised if one day you come home and the DNS feed is shut off. Also keep in mind that you are paying a substantial fee for a individual station that you may not want anymore since your local is back. You wont even be able to apply for it while its part of your loal package. So give it some thought before possibly getting rid of it. DNS feeds are a great thing to have.

What is CW? I know ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and PBS, but had never heard of CW. There was a movie I wanted to record and I wasn't paying any attention to the channel it was on so I tried to record it. I couldn't record the movie because it was on CW whatever that is? And I can't get CW.

We have no local CW affiliate, so we get the D.C. channel. It's strange. No HD, but it seems the source is, and D* just passes the HD feed as-is. Seinfeld, for example, is 16:9, but it is broadcast in the "window box", the result being a tiny 16:9 image on the screen.
