Forum member Jnetty99 was kind enough to send me another remote (RC64) - Thank you.

It controls my HR21-700 just fine in the D* position. My HR21-100 is set up to use AV1/AV2. When I slide the switch to AV1 or AV2, the remote does not control the HR21-100.

    What step am I missing?

    What steps are you following?
You may need to use the front panel to navigate through the setup screens.

    Hmm, didn't work.

    Tried it with codes 00001, 00002, 00003, and 00004 on both AV1 and AV2.

    PS. you changed your response.

Well, I already have a couple of remotes that are set up correctly (D* activates the HR21-700 and AV1 activates the HR21-100 - both in the same room). I need to get this remote to operate them both too. It works on the HR21-700 (in D* mode), but does nothing in AV1 or AV2.

When I go to remote in the receivers menu, it just has an option that this particular receiver works with AV1 or AV2.

yeah I changed it because what I posted was for RF.
Edmund is our "remote master", so search for his posts and I'm sure you'll find the reset code and then be able to set it up.
Can you swap the receivers for the DTV & AV1 slots?

I found the reset code in my D* manual and did perform a reset, but there's nothing further in there. I must have done it correctly at one time on my other remotes, but don't remember how.

Not sure what you mean by swap the receivers, but I don't want to change the codes each receiver uses, because I already have a couple of other D* remotes that work correctly as well as a Harmony universal.

    Yep, that helped.

    Mute and Select
Enter code (00003 in my case)
    Select.

    Works like a charm. Thanks.
