I just purchased a H20 and while running through the initial setup I am not getting a signal. The box I had there works fine its just the H20.

Stupid question but did you connect the SAT line to the SAT input and not the OTA input?

You are replacing an H20 with an H20? Should be identical in every connection and every setting.

nope replacing an old HTL-HD with an H20.

I did plug it in the Sat In, that was one of the first things I checked. :)

I get a message that I selected a 5lnb dish but no satellites can be found. I have 2 HR20's and they both are working fine

That is ok. The H20 needs an update that is not availbale yet (National Release It is availbale on a CE see sticky in Cutting Edge). if you run the Satellite setup (guided) select the 6 x 8 multi switch, choose the 5 LNB, and then run test. It will most likely fail on 103. A known issue on the H20. If you go to the signal meter you shoukd see all the satellites. 101 110 119 and you will have mutliple screens for the 99 and 103. You may get a signal or not on 99 and 103 there will be lot of n/a's. 99 and 103 currently only have HD Locals on them depending where you are located.

If you are getting searching for satellite signal them you have a problem with your setup.

Once the national release comes out it will fix the problem.

I am getting a failure on all sats. Think I may have a bad unit?

It's quite possible you have a bad unit.

Perhaps, or a bad cable run. I know you said it worked on the old receiver, but these new ones can be tricky--perhaps there is a splitter in there somewhere, etc. To be sure, what if you connected it up temporarily to the HR20's working cable run.

When you changed to the H20, did you try to reuse an old multiswitch?

The 5LNB dish must be either directly connected to the H20 or you must use the Zinwell WB68 or 616. Other multiswitches are not compatible.

I am going to try hooking it up to the tv that has a HR20 on it. The install with the 5lnb was from the movers connection in March so I am assuming that he used a new switch.

It might be worth an inspection of the switch to make sure. Not all installer have used the correct one.

The installer that came last week to upgrade my dish and give me an H20 box looked at my switch and said it didn't need to be replaced. It's a Trunkline 35TRDTV48. Should this A) not be working (I'm getting the current HD channels just fine) and B) have been replaced? What argument do I take up with D* support if I call them?

    Thanks,
    - Chip

I've seen what there is for that switch, and doubt it will work for the Ka-lo band SAT signals coming next month.
So Far Zinwell is the only approved switch. The "WB" stands for "wide band" and while yours is listed for "HD", I think they would have said more if it was for the new Ka SATs.

I, too, am having issues installing a (AU9) Slimline dish with an H20 receiver. After two nights of repeated swearing and no signal, I'm ready to cry uncle. Suggestions?

    Things I've tried/verified already:
    Pole is plumb
Line of sight is clear from 90 to 270 degrees
3 LNB dish gives signal (~85) through 25 ft. RG6 cable
5 LNB dish does not give signal (with or without BBC) while connected through the same RG6 cable. I've been trying to align using Sat. 101; can't seem to get a signal on any transponder for any satellite
Connecting to a different output in the LNB array does not help

    :welcome_s to the forum.
You seem to have no problem with your 3 LNB dish that is centered on the 110 SAT.
The 5 LNB dish needs to point nine degrees farther east since it is centered on the 101 SAT.

Thanks for welcoming me to the forum. I have been trying to align the 5 LNB dish using the 101 SAT. Signal strength on all transponders = 0. The settings I've been using (as taken from my H20-600 for zip code 97006):
    Azimuth: 135
    Tilt: 108
    Elevation: 34

    D* site says this:
    Elevation: 33.4
Azimuth: 131.4 [but remember this is true north not magnetic].

It would seem that you're "close" and should see something with some small side to side movement.
If you don't then you might have a bad dish [rare] and maybe could try changing to the 110 SAT and see if you get the three transponders from it.
