I have the H20 receiver and it performs very well, although it does run quite hot to the touch. There's just one problem. When I turn it off it off with my remote it still runs hot! Why is this, and is there anything I can do about it besides pulling the plug.

MY H20 has run hot since I got it last fall. It is the H20-600, which has a bad reputation, but mine has been troble-free. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes the H20-600's do run hot.
I've had both models the 100 and 600.

While the 600 runs hotter, it is smaller by about 1.5" front to back which makes it sit on a shelf better. Assuming it's a small shelf.

The 100 is cooler because of a larger cabinet with additional ventilation.

The receiver does not actually power down, it is put in standby mode. Only way to fully power down (and stop heat generating) is to unplug it. :)

I put a USB chill pad for a laptop under mine.
it seems to keep it cooler. :)

Hmmm, being a little bit on the "green" side I wonder how much power it consumes in the "standby mode"?

Is there a grill or griddle attachment for the H20?

I might as well put all that heat to use...:D

Will the H20 receive update(s) from the satellite if it is in standby ("turned off") mode?

From what I've read, almost the exact same as when turned "on"

IC - so if it takes about the same power and it will receive updates on or off why should one ever turn it "off"?

    Scritching my whatevers,

You guys will like the new H21 - it is so cool you can't tell if it's even plugged in.

Thanks for the great idea. I went to Walmart and bought a Targus Computer Cooling Mat (Model PA248U) for $19.00. I stuck it under my H20-600 and plugged it into the USB port. It made a big difference- now warm but not hot!

Really, knowing that is how it is designed, I don't mind. No problems so far.
