Looks like the H21-200 update is available now. I don't know if this is happening automatically right away or if the instruction has to be "sent." I personally am going to wait for it to happen automatically if it hasn't yet since we've been told that it will be pushed.

The new version number is 0x400B

    Cheers

Is it something built into the software that will tell the H21 to check for an update @ 2am every morning or whatever time or can the H21 be "told" to grab the update at anytime by DIRECTV? Or both? :)

It works the same way as the HR20 (and other receivers)
It constantly listens to a segment of the data stream.

Updates can happen at any time.

    Thanks Earl.

I just checked the Version and it's not pushed yet and nothing in the Scheduled Update area.

Besides, we can let those folks over @ DIRECTV make sure it works first :).

Okay... For the rest of you that have not forced it yet....
    Don't.

It is going to be pushed (the first time), at 11 ET tonight... and repeated a few times over the weekend, if you tell it not to download for some reason.

This is also a good test, of the automated update... so please.
If you haven't downloaded it already... hang tight.

I just checked and I'm up and running on 0x400B now. Looks like the update went smoothly. I checked earlier (around 5:30pm PDT) and it was still @ 0x4009.

I got it overnight--and had to reauthorize the card on the account via the website this morning. It was telling me that the card was wrong. It's fine after a reauth.

It tried to push to me at about 11:15 central. I told it no (as I was watching something). Abut 20 minutes, perhaps half and hour later it tried to push again). It gave a message that said something like "need to change channels to get DirecTV data" and gave me the option to cancel it. The default was OK, and I assume that if I were to have let it time out, it would have gotten it.

The 2nd time I got the message, I hit "select" and the TV immediately gave the message "no signal". At that point, I switched inputs on the TV to local OTA and finished what I was watching. At the first commercial I switched back, and you could see the "normal" updating process carrying on. By the time I turned back to the H21, it had finished and I had a picture. I haven't played with it yet to see what might be new. I took a quick look around before falling asleep, but I didn't see anything that jumped right out at me, other than the new version number.

I'll test as soon as I see what was changed.

It was pushed to me at 12:13 a.m. right after I went to bad. When I got up this morning I check to see if I had it and I did but I did not have to refresh the unit again on DIRECTV website. It was up and running.

I lost my Guide data, but otherwise all is well. /s

I just checked and it was pushed at 12:15 am eastern. I pulled up the menus and changed a couple channels and all seemed ok. Will be able to play with it more tonight or tomorrow.
