I was just getting ready to post that. Same here.
The box would not respond to three different remotes. The front panel would respond, but agian not the remotes.
I had to do a RBR. I had the box on NFL-ST all day and it still was when this happened.
EDIT-10 Minutes Later: OK....RBR didn't work...pulled the power...that didn't work either. It's stuck on a NFL-ST channel. I'll keep putzin' w/ it.
OK......20 minutes into this thing. I pulled the power again and let it sit for 10 minutes this time and it is now resonds to the remote.
I had a similar problem with my HR20 today and unfortunately I didn't have the H21 on. Next weekend I will for sure! I was able to restore function by hitting the EXIT button but I'm sure you tried that one.
Took me a minute to figure out what the heck you were talking about. I'm a little slow sometimes i guess. But i hear ya.... We're coming to town.
Our pass defense is hurtin' w/out Newman and Ellis. Good thing we're only going up against Rex.
Mine was automatic. Testing over the weekend and really nothing to report...
Strange problem this evening ....
Turned on TV to find my H21 with a black screen, no audio. Press "Info" to see it's on Channel 00. That's right, 00. Time and date were 12/31/2005! Would not respond to Guide or Channel up/down buttons, so could not view any channels. Did a menu Reset and all is better.
Had no problem with H21 update, which was forced, and watched TV last night on it without incident.
I cannot seem to duplicate the video delay that was seen with the last version of the FW when watching NIC, 299.
No pixalation issue being seen when going in/out of the active channels either.
Response is very good and I am very pleased with this unit.
Don't like the left arrow leaving the menu from the hold down option using info...
I've noticed if I have native=on and then so the sat signal test the top 3rd of the display has a black background, the lettering is still there but the background is black. If I turn native off I get the blue background back.
This is turning into a very quiet thread. I also have no issue to report.
Previously reported that system test kept the phone off hook for a long time after the modem test, looks like this release fixed that.
Same minor usability issues everyone else reports, otherwise nothing to report. Receiver is very stable, just does its job.
My H21 just did a reset all on it's own. I had it set to hide SD duplicates, and was watching a local mpeg4 HD channel (Seattle KOMO 4).
The H21 did a reset, then when it came back up I had to picture or sound - essentially no display. After it came fully back up and I had nothing, I did a red button reset. It booted back up and I still had nothing on the display. Then I tried changing channels and presto, all of a sudden I was watching SD locals but no HD locals. I went into the display setup and changed the option to hide SD locals off, so they would display. At this point it made no difference (I was already watching my SD locals even though it was set to hide them).
That meant that for whatever reason my H21 no longer knew I was getting HD locals. So I went into satellite setup and went back through the setup selecting a 5-LNB dish. After that was complete, the H21 took a looonnnggg time to go through the final setup step where it checks all satellites, but it did finally do that satisfactorily. I'm on an SWM, and I verified other receivers on the SWM were working properly. Not an SWM problem.
Once it came back up after re-doing the satellite setup, everything is again working properly.
Maybe ten minutes prior to having this problem, I went into satellite setup and got the coordinates for a 3-LNB dish for someone, then backed out of that screen to where the PIP came back, then hit exit. I did not go through the completion of the 3 LNB setup - just went to the screen that showed coordinates.
My guess is that even though I did not continue with the 3-LNB setup, just getting to the screen where I got the coordinates somehow got set into the receiver as having a 3-LNB instead of a 5-LNB. Why it took ten minutes or so for it to "react" to that I don't know.
Everything seems okay now.
Also, I continue to have occasional problems with component color. I lose blue. Cable connections are good. Doesn't seem to matter if the unit is on or off (standby). When it happens, I can normally get it to start working properly by cycling it from on to standby to on to standby several times. Eventually about half the screen (the center half vertically) will start flickering with the correct colors, then it will pop in. Once it does, it works just fine for a couple days, then I go back through the same process.
I previously thought the color problem was related to a slightly loose component connector, but since then the problem has recurred several times. Colors are correct on the composite video output at all times.
EDITED: FINALLY CONFIRMED THE COLOR PROBLEM WAS **NOT** THE H21, IT WAS THE TV SET.
Strange visual bug I just observed. I pressed the info button to double check on the info for the show I was watching; either pressed exit go get out of the info banner or I let it time out... I'm not sure. When the banner was gone the date / time on the left side of the banner remained. As I was typing this post it happened again when I let the banner time out. After the banner timed out the date / time took a few seconds before it decided to pop up again. I have been able to get this to repeat at least 5 times. Hitting the power button on the H21 has no effect, date / time show up the second the receiver turns back on.
I was able to capture pictures and video of the bug in action:
Date / Time after info banner timeout
Video of bug in action
Edit: Bug became very persistent so I reset the H21. Everything seems ok after the reset.
NFL-ST guide bug on mine still as well.
New HD Channels did not show up on my H21 nor my HR20. I did a MENU reset on the H21 and the channels are now listed. I wanted to try the H21 first as there's really nothing to lose.
Both my HR20-700 and H21-200 had them in the guide without doing anything.
A menu reset got them both up and running with channels listed.
If I remove the 70-80 HD channels from the favorites list. Then bring up the guide and select the HDTV filter. The 70-80 HD channel still show in the guide. Shouldn't they be filtered out?
Also, we need to get the HDTV filter moved to 2nd from the top!
Edit: Just tried on HR20, works fine (70's don't show after HDTV filter), seems like H21 bug
