I got several strange and quirky issues out of 0x430c:
    1. As noted in the discussion, the initial setup did not run automatically after the CE download. I even tried a soft reset and powered the AM21 down when the H21 powered down. I was able to run it manually from the Menu.

    2. Related to 1., it did not recognize my area code (40383) and said it was not available. My OTA is from Lexington, KY so I tried one of the major Lex zips (40504) and it found this (after a long search). I tried entering 40383 as a secondary market and it told me this was a Lexington market. After several other items visited (see below), I went back to Initial Setup and this time it found 40383 as a Lexington Market. ??

    3. When I looked at the Network Settings, it had assigned 192.168.1.100 (DHCP assigned I assume but I thought I had it turned off) to the unit with 192.168.1.1 as the Network Gateway and a DNS address of 208.67.222.222 (which was correct - presume it pulled this from the router) but it did not connect to the internet (connected to network however). I changed the address to a static address of 192.168.1.16 (consistent with the HR21 addressing) and then it connected to the internet. After an RBR for a later issue, it kept all the network addresses as changed but did not connect to the internet. I went into Advanced Setup and without changing anything, selected Connect Now and it connected. Don't know why.

    4. Tried a keyword search on IAMANEDGECUTTER and it did not come back with "not found" but ran until it timed out. After the search timed out, the remote was non functional - no buttons worked. Tried a few from the console front panel - no luck. RBR and it fixed this issue but lead to another bout of not connecting to the internet - as noted in 3.

    5. As noted in other threads, the "signal strength" shows that it is not acquired for the OTA signals - checked all in the list but when I do a system test, it shows the OTA signal at 100% - odd. Works great however. In an aside, the LIL (SD) for the Olympics was terribly pixelated just prior to CE download but after the download, this issue disappeared.

    6. Apparently the IAMANEDGECUTTER worked since I can get the Report and Playlist Sort. I am sending a diagnostic report and report number is 20080809-1A2B (the report goes more quickly than the HR21).

    7. The former issue with incorrect dates for the Past Software Upgrade now appears to be fixed as 0x430c shows correctly.

    8. Don't know what support for Mediashare but I don't see any evidence of it. Perhaps the other Network quirks, this might be related. Triple-Tap works fine and is appreciated.

A bit punchy now so will look further tomorrow. Great to have the HD OTA Locals.

New software was pushed last night, and all is working well, subject to the same minor issues already covered here-no signal meter, meter shows two tuners, and channel changes are slower than before. I did have to RBR to get it going after the download, but it has been running great since then. The OTA tuner seems to be doing a good job, and is able to pull in everything my HR20-100 can receive. So far that is all I have encountered.

I sometimes have the problem I see with HR20's blank screen on channel changes. OTA signal meter does not work. A problem I have is dolby audio does not work changing channel fixes or dolby off fixes.

    Plugged it back in.
    no change
    It goes from:
    1. Blue "hello"
    2. Blue "almost there"
    3. Long black
    4. Blank blue
    5. Black
    6. Step 1 of 2 with DirecTV screen [first]
    7. Step 1 of 2 Almost done [with resolution lights cycling]
    8. No farther
Tried to download new/old software. Nothing, after many attempts.
Tried to see if anything would happen with no SAT feed. [I'm really out of "tricks" here].
    Same thing.

Grabbed new remote & batteries for IR function since this was set to RF.
Bingo... looking for new software 0x43C, 0% [Duh no SAT feed].
It has timed out and is to "almost there" again.

    Forced download back to 0x4080.
On reboot, it started the setup guide [square one].
Info screen now shows 0x4080 as the original software & lost 103s SAT [failed & NA for all tps].

I had some SWM-related problems after the forced CE download. Because my OTA is diplexed through the SWM (four other receivers working OK) I took things fairly slowly. First I inserted the diplexer, and connected the H21 only, did a reset. Signals were all screwed up, 99c 99s 103s missing completely (no signal strength screens), SWM screen had also disappeared, lots of missing transponders and sat on 0% getting the guide. So, assumed it was a diplexer problem, replaced diplexer with a known "good" one (from the SWM line going to the HR20), did an RBR, same problem.
Removed diplexer and connected sat line directly to H21, did an RBR, same problem except this time I got a message saying "searching for signal on satellite in 1 AND 2". Since this is an H21 where did SAT 2 come from? Powered down the SWM, powered up, did an RBR, success! Added in the diplexer, still OK. Connected the AM21 and it came up OK into the OTA setup screen.

Went to check signal strength on OTA. Screen lists TWO off-air tuners - this should be only one (as others have reported) . Both are "not acquired". Checked the guide, OTA stations are in the guide. Checked reception on my OTA locals, they are all coming in fine, checked OTA signal strength again, still shows two off-air tuners and still "not acquired".

I am not networked so can't check on that.

Finally this box is working on the national release.

Standing by for the next "push" of software.

    Not so lucky
Next boot or attempt to with national release was the same.

    Receiver is "bricked".

Mine received the download just fine. i had to go through the OTA set up menu, took about 10 minutes to receive info from satellite.. Like others, I show 2 tuners and no signal strength.. The OTA locals show in the guide as a different color, a dark grey.. I was able to edit OTA channels with no problem. I would say the channel changing experience is slightly slower but it is not annoying to me.

I am located in the notorious Denver OTA market in a fringe area . The local OTA signals are still mostly low power from their new tower about 25-30 miles from me. The AM21 is the strongest D* tuner by a long shot for my application. For this particular TV, I have the venerable Radio Shack double bow tie set top antenna mounted in the attic. The AM21 provides a steadier, stronger signal than my roof mounted CM 3021 paired with an HR20-100!

H21-200/AM21 now up and running. A few observations:

    * Had to manually initiate the Off-Air Antenna Setup. Receiver did not automatically launch that after connecting the AM21. Should automatically launch, right?
    * ATSC tuner is more sensitve than my HR20 HD DVR, but not as good as my Zenith "coupon converter box".
    * Some of my OTA stations have stuttering audio with no video artifacts. Not sure if it's signal related since you can't use the off-air signal meters yet.
    * Satellite Signal display now using (s) and (c) names for 99º and 103º instead of (a) and (b).

One other observation, the AM21 is deeper than the H21 so I located it under the H21. Also, the AM21 has a glossy finish versus the matte finish of the H21. I also have a HR21 with an AM21 and they look a little better than this combination..

I do not have any of my receivers networked so I haven't had any of those problems.

If it matters, I have a Slimline-5 Dish and 2 Zinwell WB68's set up in a cascaded fashion.

No OTA signal meter. The OTA Tuner works much better than the OTA tuner on the HR20s and seems to be as good as one of the other TVs since I can tune in my local PBS HD stations that dont always hold on the HR20's

Any idea on what the other surprises might be???

I had to get a cable to connect to INTERNET. I used advanced setup after setup failed. Ip address and subnet mask information were wrong default gateway and dns were blank. After inputting information the network worked and so did Music, photos & more. I had local sd channel come up blank-channel change fixed after report # 20080809-31D6 sent.

    Problem

Game search is not working. I just turned on NFL Network HD (212) and I got the game search because the game was blacked out to me (game is available on Comcast Sports Net 629, my local RSN).

All it says is game search in progress but the load bar never appears and it never finds anything.

I just tested the same thing on my HR21 and it worked fine.

    Day 2

    * HD locals via sat have returned to the guide, took several hours though.

    * Tuning to OTA locals works fine, haven't had any issues so far other then those already noted such as signal meters not working and setup not keeping your custom list when you enter it again.

    * Very disappointed at the slowdown of the GUI, especially in the guide. It has been so snappy since release but the "summer update" to the GUI has made it nearly as slow as the HR20 and HR21. So this slowness is obviously related to the GUI more then the fact that a DVR is typically slower. I *really* hope that the interactive app for Sunday Ticket hasn't slowed down because this speed is the main reason why I loved using this receiver last year over the HR20 or HR21.

Overall, the intended purpose of delivering OTA seems to be working very well. A few tweaks in the software and this should be good to go. I can't speak to the networking or SWM aspects, as only my two HRs are networked and I don't have SWM. And I guess slower GUI is the price to pay for more features?

H21 and AM21 are up and running

    Like litzdog911
I to had to "manually initiate the Off-Air Antenna Setup. Receiver did not automatically launch that after connecting the AM21."

After the push download the info/sat page under set up was blank blue screen
after i rebooted with the AM21 the info/sat page was back.

My OTA off-air signal meters is showing 0 on all OTA channels, the channels come in great when i tune to them and they show up in the guide.

    system test run Results

Tuner 1 OK Acquired at 100%
Off Air 1 OK Acquired at 72%
    Network Connected
    Internet Connected
    Access Card OK
    Receiver OK
    LNB Output OK

Since the update I am noticing a much slower response on channel changing. I use Native on and switching channels causes screen to go light grey and than tuned into the channel. The AM21 seems to be working spectacularly with no issues to report.

I am getting ready to hook up the network via a wireless bridge that I will be moving from one of the HR20's.

When I got home, no picture-- reset and everything was fine, and I had received the push at some point over the weekend. Hooked up the AM21 and set it up, 12144 zip code, worked great the first time. Haven't have time to 'use' it yet but so far setup was easy and worked for me.

Maybe YES Interactive will work for me now, too. Bonus :)
