There is no sub menu settings for me to select
That does not look like any screen that I have ever seen before ?
Could this be a unit made for a Commercial Establishment ?
Does any of your screens show the firmware number ?
My son's H24 does not look anything like that.
Read this link. It shows how to access the setup menu on a commercial unit.
I have never personally done this but it does not look too hard. It is a little bit more than getting the new firmware but not much.
DIRECTV Receiver Guide - H25 Receiver Setup - Sonu Satellite DIRECTV for Business
There are people on here that are very familiar with commercial units.
That is the screen from the older GUI. Which is expected I believe since it’s not a DVR.
But it does sound like it’s activated like a business account... which shows different menu options than a residential one.
I had this issue the other week. I have added 6 new h25 receivers to my account and all of them had that issue. Seems like they had an old commercial software installed on them. I was missing all HD channels and h25 couldn't recognize reverse band lnb. There was no option to perform a satellite setup. At first forced software download didn't help but after another 6-7 hours all the options miraculously appeared. One of six receivers took a full 24 hours to become fully operational. Hope this helps.
Can you post a picture of the product tag on the bottom of the box That should answer this once and for all
Not likely. The H24s I had (and the one I still have) were the same model as residential customers. There may be some with a part number that designates them as commercial, but if so there are still plenty of ones you can't distinguish.
Odd.. I thought the H24's if commercial should show H24-COM on them.. At least all of the ones i ever have seen did
Even for the ones that have a different label on them the hardware is identical, as is the software. The software just acts differently depending on information the receiver gets from the access card and/or authorization signal.
I am a commercial dealer and this receiver most likely has DRE firmware on it, it is meant for Hospitality accounts and locks out the settings so guests can't make changes. It also uses a different remote specifically an RC7XH the menu and select codes are different so you can't take a remote from a property and use it somewhere else. It should say in the back of the remote that it won't work anywhere but on property.
To fix your problem you can get to those setting by rebooting the receiver and when the box gets to step 2 of 2 press the red button it will load up the proper settings menu, you will have to do this every time you want to view or make changes. Also with this firmware you can manually select the digital swm channel used by the receiver which is mainly used for hotels with loop thru wiring you would select the highest channel (13) on the closest receiver as that channel has the highest frequency and won't travel long distances if the receiver is far from the switch you can select a lower channel as they travel farther. Be carful when manually selecting channels you can select one already in use and you want be able to see what's in use unless you have an AIM meter you will have to reset the other receivers so they get a new channel but if they pull the auto channel first your manually selected one won't work. Same goes for a power failure in the business if some are set to auto and some manual and the autos pick a channel first the manual won't get it.
