I don't know if this is where to ask but....
The laborers who ripped the roof shingles off also tossed the dish off after I told the main guy not to.

Bottom line is I need a new dish installed. I am withholding a certain amount from payment but I want to have a new one installed. I had a terrible experience with DTV when it was installed and had to get someone else out to reinstall it more professionally. I need a new installer in Riverhead Ny.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks

    Leon...
I'm having a new roof put it on Monday. I understand that sometimes they can go around the dish. If not, I'll call D* and the roofer said they would pay for the call. I hope I can get a quick fix. If not, can I guess we can watch recorded shows and Netflix, Amazon, and DVD's until it comes up. Funny thing I'm also getting a replacement HD Genie.

If the roofers can use a tape measure...I'd think any roofing company must have guys that can do that...they should be able to place the dish just about exactly where it was. I had a new roof installed a couple years ago and the roofers put the dish back where it was with not problems.

And do not allow them to roof around it... that could end in disaster someday.

There are more things to consider than just exact placement. Things like extra layers of roof shingles or how the mast was installed before. Point is that while it is possible to get the dish right on like it was before this would more of getting lucky kind of thing. 99% of the time a dish needs to be readjusted once it has been removed.

The roof was done and the roofers actually put the dish back on. What they did was put the dish back in the same holes. They were able to do that with the shingles they used. Before they took it down, I took pictures of the satellites and transponder signals before they took the dish down. After it was up again, I compared and it was almost the same. Still the signals were in the high nineties. Some were the same, some were higher by one, and some were lower by 1.

That's about what I was told in another similar thread. Worked for me, too.

I've seen some pretty shoddy roof jobs, wouldn't surprise me.
