I was watching the Smithsonian channel, and there was a Ford commercial. At the end, it said visit your Hawaii Ford Dealer. Our local commercial are absolutely annoying in Hawaii, but this making me want to look another provider.

DIRECTV and many cable systems also do local insert advertising. Good luck!

Even OTA stations do local ad insertions in national programming. It's part of the business model...

First time I seen this, I have never seen local commercial insert at all being a dish customer for 20+ years.

I have not seen a local ad, but I have seen "targeted" ads inserted in programming. DISH and DIRECTV have been selling targeted ads played from their DVRs and clients for several years. Perhaps their ad agency finally got a local advertiser in your market that wanted exposure via DISH.

You can't escape commercials anywhere. I recently went to watch a music video on YouTube, but first it played a commercial for a ham radio store. Yup, YouTube knew I'm a ham!
