Obviusly you see something harmful in not announcing it immediately but I can't see what that is. It's a couple of TV channels not something that will change your life. Even DVR and MRV were delayed in media announcements.
Swanni isn't simply a joke; he practices extremely poor journalism. It's understandable to suspect someone who works for DirecTV for putting out the company line. The problem is Satelliteracer never went any further than saying new HD was coming until a.) some posters said the new HBO HDs were being listing in a magazine b.) Sixto reported the channels were up in testing. That's checking statements and confirming facts. That's real reporting by members of this forum who aren't getting paid by DirecTV.
Swanni doesn't do any reporting on his own and lumps everyone who has posted real information on this forum as having "ties" to DirecTV so that he doesn't have to credit them as journalists and simply copy their work without credit. If he worked for even a mildly reputable news source he would be fired.
By journalistic standards, Swanni isn't a journalist. However, you can go to numerous tech site or political sites and though they put their own spin on things they pretty much always link to the original article. Sixto does great work for this site and in his stickied threads threads he does not base what he says on his opinions he is genuinely reporting/uncovering facts in the same way traditional journalists do. The fact that everyone accepts Swanni is lame shouldn't be used as an excuse for him taking other people's efforts and not crediting them or making a blanket statement to suggest they are bias. Sixto is basing what he says on verifiable facts; facts "Swanni" has no interest in discovering on his own.
It's on D*'s "Latest News" page.
It was also tweeted around early afternoon ET.
Or did you mean- Duh.....WINNING!
No mention of this anywhere?
I have a 2 month gift subscription to HBO. According to directv's site, HBO is not considered as active.
I would like to try it, but won't look a gift horse in the mouth.
If it's anything like Bill Maher's overtime, it won't use my graphics card and make my processor stutter at 100%.
Per "Inside DirecTV" April-May 2011 we now have HBO GO and Max GO (VOD online).
It doesn't work yet. I went to HBO Go per the DirecTV webpage instructions and DirecTV is not yet listed as an option.
Maybe they'll fire it up after they add the remaining HBO and Max HD channels, then we'll have the complete package.
The webpage just says April 2011. No exact date nor that it is actually live at this date.
Well the new agreement probably hasn't gone into effect yet. I'm guessing it'll be the same day they add the final HD channels.
Inside DirecTV has an ad for Game of Thrones next to it, which premieres April 17. Maybe it'll be around then.
At the time I posted the link the the exact date of April 7, was stated. Obviously that has been changed now. Typical DirecTV BS at it's finest.
Exhibit A of why directv should not announce dates.
Exhibit B, 2007 HBO/Max press release.
