"When it launches in the spring of 2020, HBO Max will be available to about 10 million AT&T customers who also are HBO subscribers for no additional charge, AT&T COO John Stankey said in an interview with Reuters. That would include subscribers of DirecTV and AT&T TV Now. Stankey also said the telco might include HBO Max for free with certain AT&T wireless plans."
I hope that's true. I not only have HBO on DirecTV, I also have my cell phone and Internet service with AT&T. It would be nice to get HBO Max without having to pay for another streaming service.
Nobody rides for free. Anything that is "included free" is just buried in the price one pays.
In this case "will be available to about 10 million AT&T customers who also are HBO subscribers" is less than 100% of AT&T customers. And according to the article it will be a promotional offer, not a permanent rule. If it becomes permanent there is no doubt that the cost will need to be buried in the price. Including the Time Warner content with the HBO content is a natural expansion of HBO Go and HBO Now - the yet to be detailed promotion will give AT&T subscribers with HBO Go access to the Time Warner content (HBO Max).
and cinemax will just merge into the liner HBO package? also will directv HBO get more channels?
