Just subscribed to HBO. I thought that the On Demand service would include all of HBO series. I wanted to catch up with Boardwalk Empire. To my surprise, It is not available. What a rip off! They make you think you will be able to view everything HBO has to offer. Nice going Direct TV! Another case of consumer rip off, and the almighty dollar.

HBO controls what is made available...not DirecTV.

HBO controls what is available on demand, not D*, as is the case with other networks as well. You are pointing your anger to the wrong place.

HBO Go (, which D* has a deal to offer, shows most old series in their entirety.

A follow up to this subject.

I was looking over the On Demand choices for HBO on Thursday (8/4) and setting up recordings of Game of Thrones.

First it would be nice to set up a Series Link, for shows that are series, it's a pain trying to go through each title and figure out which one aired first, second, third, etc.

Second, not knowing if my wife and I would like it, we only recorded the first episode (I hope it was the first) and we watched it on Saturday. Well we liked it, so I went back to the HBO On Demand and guess what, all of the Game of Thrones episodes are gone. I don't know if this means they will be re-running them on their regular channel and I can get caught up there or what.

It's quite annoying to have shows (especially recent ones) get yanked from the On Demand List.

I haven't looked at HBOGO yet to see if it's there, but I was hoping to watch it on the big screen, not my 11 inch laptop.

Any ideas about finding out how, why, when it will come back to On Demand?

Only place I can tell you to go is HBOs website and look for the OD schedule. It might be there.

D* is adding all those titles as we speak so that the library will be similar to HBO GO content. Not exactly the same, but close. There will be some things on VOD that is not on HBO GO and vice versa. This is due to rights issues.

I haven't heard a firm timeline, but last I heard those all those titles would be up by Q4. Not sure if that's still the case. There were some infrastructure changes that had to be made because D* receives the HBO video differently than a cable system (higher quality). As such, the enormous increase in titles had to be accounted for and they are close to finalizing that. At least that's the latest I had heard.

When I came home today and checked they were back and listed by episode order (1-10) rather than just name. Maybe they were just cleaning up the titles.
    Got all nine downloaded!

It is NOT DirecTV who is ripping you off here, but HBO. It is HBO who decides what gets to be "on demand" and what isn't. Many of the HBO Original Series get released on DVD/BluRay, and if they would leave whole seasons on demand forever, they wouldn't sell the DVD/Blurays.

Boardwalk Empire Season 1 has been released on DVD if I recall correctly.

Either way, your are venting in the wrong direction here.

Yes, it has been frustrating to find Game of Thrones on HBO Go but not on HBO VOD. I would much rather watch the series on my large screen TV rather than my computer monitor.

Here's hoping that HBO places GoT back on VOD.

I hook my laptop to my tv (via HDMI) and it mirrors my desktop so that I can watch HBO GO on my tv instead of a 15 inch laptop screen. I realize it may not be a viable solution for everyone but it gets the job done.

I wonder if there will ever be an HBO-Go plugin for Windows 7 Media Center. If so, I can watch it on my big screen through my XBox-360, which is an extender for my HTPC.

You are assuming that DirecTV will allow it. I wouldn't do that, especially considering they aren't allowing it on the Roku. I don't think they are going to allow it on anything except portable devices. But time will tell.

I checked and all episodes of Game of Thrones is on HBO On Demand now. Seems they add them and replace them as they feel. So if you want to catch up with Season 1 or just replay some of your favorite episodes, this is the time.
