In my experience, I'm surprised that when I've queried them about something via email, that the reply even addresses what I asked about.

If you want something from Direct, call them. Email with them is really a waste of time and effort.

But the scores for both D* and E* are so low it is more of being slightly better than sucking!

And all that means is this year, E* gets to brag about it and D* will have to stop.

But yes, E* is making improvements and in some ways is better than D*. Personally both services have plenty to like and hate.

Actually if you read the details my husband really didn't get lied to because it says--"You'll receive a total monthly bill credit of $45 in your first year and $20 in your second year. Savings include package rebates plus $10 credit for Advanced Receiver Service with Auto Bill Pay. Redeem your rebates by visiting directv.com/rebates. If you redeem prior to your installation, your rebate credits will begin with your first bill. Rebates submitted online after installation will take 6-8 weeks. Rebates must be submitted within 90 days of the start of your service." That quote was from the top package. It doesn't now say free HD for life like it had in the past for new customers. So I guess some customers will have free HD for life while others won't?

I have the Top Package of D* along with the HD Extra Pack, MLBEI, and the Protection Plan. I even used to have the Game Lounge, but finally dropped it because it was so lame!
I'm paying D* big bucks I don't see why I can't get my HD free instead of losing it when my two years are up? I think with the Top Package alone the HD should be free.

Hey, I'd like things free, too, but just because you are a customer doesn't mean you're entitled to free service.

If Dish can do it with their customer base, D* could also. But D* is too busy giving everything away to try to get even more customers. Have you seen what they are offering new customers lately?

Just called into Directv about another issue and while the CSR was going through my bill she noted that my Free HD was going to expire next month on the thirteenth. But then she told me that 7/12 would be the best date to call in about new HD promos. She said there would be no more free HD for 24 month deals, but there would be new ones. Don't have a clue what's so special about 7/12, but in case she's right I just thought I'd share.

I think my 24 months expire in July. So thanks for posting :) I guess we will see what is going to happen then? But sadly with the CRs at D* you're never sure you are getting correct information :(

I'm betting your bill cycle date is the 12th of the month and July is the first month without the credit. There's nothing special about the date otherwise so it's not like a new credit promotion system is happening or anything.

I just received a bill $10.00 higher than last, and called about it. The rep claimed my 24 month free HD had expired. I complained that I didn't want to pay that extra since Dish was offering HD for free. He gave me $5.00 off for 3 months and transferred me to a "specialist". That rep gave me another 24 months of $10.00 off, but with a 24 month commitment. I accepted the deal.

24 month commitment and you only got $10 off a month for 24 months? Seems like you should've gotten more than that for agreeing to a 24 month contract.

I had reached my 24 months with my bill on 7/23. Just called Directv about getting the credit restored. Couldn't get another 24 months, but I'll get 12 months starting next month. No new requirements, just auto-bill pay and paperless billing, like before. If I just have to call every 12 months, so be it, I'll take 15-20 minutes out of my day to save $120 a year.
