I noticed WCIU 26 and WWME 23 are broadcasting bland screens and have been for a while. All the other Chicago locals seem to be on the air on D. Wondered if anyone knew what was going on.

I recorded Two and a Half Men and the picture was absolutely terrible tonight. This is the first time I have ever had a problem with the picture through DirecTV and CBS who, in my opinion usually has the best HD picture quality of any of the local networks. I did not, however, notice this on Fox as I recorded Terra Nova too. I assume this was a DirecTV issue. The image was highly compressed it seemed like. I would not even call the picture HD as it contained heavy macrblocking, banding, and lots of blur.
It's not just CBS 2. I was watching the local news on WGN 9 and saw the same blocking. I switched over to the OTA 9-1 and I don't see the problem.
DirecTV is doing something to the picture and it is really bad. Hopefully they are aware of the problem! I hope it's a problem and not a new way of compressing the signal so they can fit more channels. :nono2:
Many people reporting this problem in Chicago. Since it's locals only, and affecting all the locals, it has to be a problem in DirecTV's Chicago Local Receive Facility, or in the link between the LRF and the satellite. That means we should expect it to be fixed soon.
