I sent WGGB an email yesterday and they have not responded-perhaps they don't care?
So did I.
any response from WGGB?
No. It was unwatchable yesterday.
This whole HD LiL for our DMA has been a huge disappointment. Only one station is delivering quality HD picture and sound, WWLP. The rest of it is completely worthless. Dropped frames, stutter, SD audio delays, etc.
The next step I'm going to take is to write a letter to the local tech guy at the Republican, assuming he's still employed.
So far no answer I did find an email address for the station owner and tried that today. Nothing yet
Can you pass along that email address for WGGB so we can send ours to the same person.
This is the email address listed for James Gormally -the owner- on the job postings page
Thanks! I sent an email but no reply yet. I had already emailed D* and as usual they had no clue. They said we should be getting Fox 6 in HD and to try a red button reset !!!
To Doug Brott: I will be posting the info you requested in post #1 in the next several replies.
Channel: WGGB-DT 40
Description: Dancing With The Stars is being broadcast with Dolby Pro Logic audio instead of Dolby Digital. The video is delayed approximately 100ms to the audio.
Channel: Fox 6
Description: House is being broadcast in SD stretch-o-vision while the OPG says HD.
My fox on 6 is dropping frames and coming in poorly, is that what others are seeing? House is on now, and it looks the same as SD fox 61
House was in stretch-o-vision
yeah i noticed that as well, but I was also having it drop out and freeze, and none of the other channels were so I wasnt sure if it was my signal or the channel itself.
Today from WGGB-They are aware of the issue and it is a hardware problem. They have new hardware on the way and this should be resolved in a week or so.
Do we know if Fox 6 broadcasts an HD signal or just SD?
By hardware, do you mean the Dolby Digital encoder?
No idea what hardware is being replaced. Mr Gormally was pretty vague but he did respond
3 WSHM, CBS is incorrect. We're supposed to be seeing WSHM for our local HD, which is Springfield, MA. Instead, we're getting WFSB out of Hartford, CT. The SD channel is correct though. The guide says WSHM, but when you finally tune to it, it's WFSB. Wife's been trying to record Oprah all week (don't get me started on the Oprah thing), but getting WFSB local news instead. Tried recording The Unit on Sunday night and got some other program. Called customer service once. They said they'd take care of it. Nope. Called back tonight and the only thing they can think of is to reprogam the HD DVR. I did that and still no luck. DTV tech said they'll probably have to schedule a trouble call, which makes no sense to me.
6 FOX, like others, isn't HD, though the guide says it is.
61 WTIC is also FOX, but SD only. Both of these stations are extremely choppy.
22 NBC, WLWLP is good.
40 ABC, WGGB is good.
and of course, when I call DTV back, I spend 30+ minutes on the phone with them, asking me to do everything the previous tech told me to, and then she hangs up. :uglyhamme
The baseball game last night on both FOX 61 and FOX 6 on D* were unwatchable. Audio drops and stuttering video. I switched to ota on FOX 61 and it was fine. I'm glad i have ota for a backup. Anyone else have that problem last night?
I've contacted Direct Tv several times to find out why FOX6 is not broadcasting in HD. Its been escalated and no one has yet got back to me since 10/1/08. Very frustrating.
