Hopefully it is the disconnect before they they give us a real CBS and Fox HD feed from WSHM.

I was pissed having to watch the Patriot's game in SD yesterday.

I had called about Fox when it first came on and they told me we do get it in HD and to do a red button restart. Enough said !!!

From what I have read D* says to take it up w/ the local affiliate. Which I have emailed both WHSM and WGGB and have not gotten a response.

Luckily, i watch the locals OTA through my HR20's. Sometimes i check on those HD channels through D* and they are just horrible. I'm not slamming D* either. It just appears that the local stations aren't up to snuff.

So it's 2:20pm 12/17 EST. I just got off the phone wth these folks. Basically, because it's soap-opera time, no HD. I have to call back when HD programming is supposed to be on. Then they can "diagnose" the issue.

My advice is to do the same, because they say they're not aware of any problems. If you have the protection plan, when you first call, ask to be switched over to that dept and have it escalated.

I asked the same question that tater71 asked above - why did they nuke the CT feed at least. No answer but to call back.

I also have been contacting them about the issues with Fox and CBS. They told me we actually are supposed to be getting Fox61 in HD and Fox6 in SD which makes sense since Fox 6 is not yet available in HD. That was last Sunday and nothing yet, so I won't hold my breath. I did get an update from Fox6's engineer and they now expect to be HD by January 15th. Of course that won't help us for this week's Pats game on Fox.

Relative to CBS3, DirecTV said it was a programming issue with WFSB/WHSM, although I doubt it. I got the name and number of the chief engineer there and left a message but he is on vacation until the week after Christmas.

Locals on HD have been a major source of irritation since I switched from cable 2 months ago with this problem with Fox and now CBS and the continuous sync issues with NBC and ABC.

If we keep bothering them enough, maybe they will eventually fix all these things...yeah sure.

After several emails I just spoke to a "supervisor" at DTV. Mary was about as unhelpful as she could be and at one point suggested things would work better if customers would not contact TV stations about DTV signals.

She insisted that we were getting 5 HD locals and wanted to know how I knew that we weren't. My first unpleasant experience with customer service.

That's the problem - DTV refuses to check into the fact that their listing showing 5 HD channels is incorrect so they close out every one of these calls as some crazy customer calling in. The end result is every time someone calls in, they treat it as though it's the first time they ever heard of the problem and the cycle starts again. I'm not sure what else we can do. Calls and emails don't seem to work and end in more frustration.

I've sent a request in to DIRECTV to get more information about this. I'll let you know when I hear something.

So, I called DTV once again tonight. I first spoke to the "protection" department since I have that plan. I said I was calling regarding an already open case. Yet the guy still wants me to reset my receiver! So at that point I asked to speak to his supervisor.

James comes on the phone, and for the umteenth time, I have to explain the issue with CBS and FOX to him, and the choppy NBC. I explain to him, it's been an issue since Oct. 1, when our locals were supposed to have gone live. Are you ready for this - he said there have been NO escalation issues regarding this in our area!!!! He said he was indeed going to escalate it, and that I'd receive a call back within 72 hours.

No doubt, anything you can find out for us Doug, it would sincerely be appreciated. I would however, encourage each and every one of you to call yet again, and ask this to be escalated, period.

Another thing with their customer service. I've had several times where I've been "put on hold," and low and behold, my line goes dead. At the start of your call, tell them, that you expect THEM to call YOU back if you get disconnected. Get names too. Though in the end they can say there's a hundred Bob's working in service, we've done our due diligence in case we need to take this higher.

The FOX station in the Springfield Holyoke is standard def but it is sometimes mistakenly referred to as HD by DirecTV agents because it requires MPEG -4 equipment. DirecTV is apparently working on clarifying this in their systems so that the station is not mistakenly referred to as HD.

As I understand it, in the past DirecTV was able to import the SD FOX feed from Hartford because there was no FOX presence in the Springfield - Holyoke DMA. Now that there is a FOX feed originating from Springfield they can't import the HD FOX signal from Hartford because of the presence of a FOX station in the Springfield DMA. So that would mean there will be no FOX in HD until the Springfield FOX station starts their HD OTA feed.

That's all well and good, but we were promised ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox in HD by D*.

The choppiness on ABC40 is killing me. I can't believe I gotta watch one of the biggest games of the year in SD.

The DirecTV feed of ABC40 is really bad right now and this morning, the voice sync on 22 was so far off it wasn't even watchable. I'm lucky for the C's game that I live right under Mt. Tom so I can get it OTA....which is coming in with zero choppiness, so the problem is with DTV. This should not be happening.

I found this in another forum and it seems to work. If you get this in time, it might at least get you through the game.

"what i do is pause the show briefly and that makes it watchable i have only noticed this on local hi-def channles.mostly on live shows. it doesn't fix the problem but it makes it watchable. "

Hello all. I've been reading this forum but haven't posted until today and thought I'd chime in as well. First, I have to say that pausing live TV for even just a split second takes away the choppiness. It's worked great for me when trying to watch HD college football games. Yeah, it sucks we have to do this, but it works 100% of the time for me and only puts about a 2 sec delay from actually live TV. Secondly, about Fox, I've called DTV as well and they said that they were unaware of the problem and I should call back in one month. I'll keep trying and hopefully we can get an answer. Now the CBS thing is entirely new to me. I noticed it last Monday (12/15) but haven't been able to follow up on it since I've basically been out of town since. Does anyone know if that's been fixed yet, or is CBS no longer HD? Thanks. I'll keep everyone posted if I hear any updates as well.

Keep calling! It's still the same for CBS. It might be worth calling and emailing WFSB/WHSM as well to get their help. The chief engineer is Victor Zarrilli (victor.zarrilli@wfsb.com) and his number is 860-728-3333 x 1662. His message indicates he is on vacation until Monday. I've seen posts from the past that indicate he is quite helpful so maybe he can do something from their end or at least talk to DTV since they apparently aren't listening since every time any of us calls they apparently have no record of anyone else calling in.
