I take that back now. My Under the Dome recording was riddled with the glitches as well.
Someone out there is paying attention.
After a couple weeks of the glitches, as soon as I posted this, the troubles are gone the next day and ever since.
I really havent paid much attention to this thread but if you run into problems again go ahead and PM me and I can check SAT and OTA too.
Here we go again with WPEC. For 2 weeks now the video glitches come and go and now for 2 nights in a row we are missing the center channel again.
I want the choice from Directv to choose another CBS channel.
Now WPEC is missing the center channel and the audio is wavering up and down. And as an added bonus the video glitches are back.
I don't know if this is happening in prime time. But It affects my recordings of the 11pm News and David Letterman and Craig Ferguson.
For weeks now I am in the same boat as I always am annually with WPEC channel 12 out of WPB.
They have something that goes bad with the HD feed the provide Directv.
I cannot get OTA up here in Fort Pierce.
So the game begins with trying to contact an engineer at WPEC.
Then they recommend contacting Directv. Directv says they will log the complaint.
The national feed shows from CBS are in HD 5.1 and have a few video glitches and brrripppps.
But the audio is fine.
But the 11oclock news and David Letterman and Craig Ferguson are riddled with video bripps and are sending a 5.1 signal missing everything but left and right channel.
Every year I get the same run around as if I am the only one with the issue.
And then one day they lose the HD signal all together with a blue screen apology for a day or 2 and then it is fixed again for another year.
Well now I am going on 4 weeks of this and I do not where to turn at this point.
The engineers at the station know my name now and won't return my calls.
I noticed "white flakes" in my recording of "How I Met Your Mother" from Monday night but no other issues. I'll have to record Letterman or Ferguson and see if I'm getting center channel audio or not.
I am getting the feeling that this is really the problem. No one watches Letterman any more.
I just cannot believe I am the only one watching the 11pm news and seeing the terrible brrrripps and audio issues.
I am literally recording 99 other series on probably 20+ different channels with no issues.
But after looking back at the threads, this has been going on every year since 2008.
I completely forgot to come back and post my findings, sorry. I've recorded Letterman and Ferguson for the last few nights and I've had center channel audio on each recording.
I'm not seeing any issues on Letterman or Ferguson recorded via SAT.
You were not
So over the directv signal, you are not missing the center channel on the HD 5.1 feed?
You are recording OTA because of your proximity correct? I have opened up a report with Directv due to my lack of response from WPEC.
I had an engineer from WPEC call me back, but he basically brushed me off due to the lack of reports but mine.
No, the recordings I made were from SAT.
SAT = Directv's WPEC feed?
A few weeks back I did send WPEC a note on their website about the center channel problem. So they have my email.
But I have watched 11pm news OTA and SAT and don't see any brrps or white spots or anything wrong.
I will record it this weekend on both a Genie and see what I see for both OTA and SAT.
Yes, via Satellite not OTA.
The video brrpps have been gone for a few days now. I have a theory that they are around when they have rain down there in WPB.
But the center channel issue still persists.
Well then, I am baffled.
Person of interest,NCIS,NCIS: Los Angeles,Hawaii 5-0,CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,The Mentalist, all record fine with the center channel.
But the 11oclock news, David Letterman and Craig Ferguson record without it.
But when the video Bbrrrpps come, it affects all the programs.
That cannot be just me. Can it?
What surround sound mode do you use?
My Sunfire picks up the DD automatically if it is present. That is part of the problem. When a signal is being sent in stereo, I can change the surround modes to make a phantom center.
But they are sending a stereo signal over a DD feed.
