A friend mentioned that he read somewhere that a completely new HD DVR is due out later this year. If so I assume it would be superior to the 24 series.

    Any truth to this rumor?

The next receiver line of models to be released in succession would be the H25 and HR25 models. However, don't hold your breathe; as the HR24's model run is still in it's infancy.

As far as a Tivo interfaced unit goes, that's been "in the works" for many years now without fruition; so I woundn't count on it any time soon if at all.....

It's not a succession number, it's a date code. We will see the new Tivo in 2 to 7 years from now.

On their site, TiVo has said in the past this box will be released in 2010. Now if you look on their site, you will find release dates of 2011 or 2012. Your guess is as good as any as to when it will acutally be released.

I have no doubt that DirecTV has better DVRs on the horizon, but the HR24 is certainly a winner today.

I just hope there will be a bigger unit down the road, the physical size of the H/HR24 would look weird in my equipment rack.

Uh, I think those were photoshopped or altered in some way. I went to TiVo's site and they're still saying 2010. I thought that if 2010 were their target date that it would have been released prior to the start of the NFL Season.

Lies on the Internet? I'm shocked, shocked! :nono:

Still, I don't think it will come out until the moon is in the seventh house, and Jupiter aligns with Mars.

DIRECTV was tossing around a presentation last year that indicated that the server for the client-server model was due late this year.

I photoshopped mine to 'prove' that the poster who submitted the photo with the 2011 date did the same thing.

The TiVo web site still shows 2010.

Oh, I don't think you're wrong. For a unit that's supposed to street before years end, we don't know a lot about it.

You're probably referring to the HMC30 which is a server with thin clients. From everything seen so far it wouldn't be "superior to the 24 series" because it appears to be based on the 24 series hardware.
