I have been getting calls every day for 2 weeks. I finally answered one yesterday and they wanted me to add the HD extras (Paladia, etc) for 3 months. I declined and the lady insisted that I was making a mistake. I didn't want to take a chance on getting billed for these channels in 3 months, so I repeatedly said I didn't want them. 2 hours later, I get a call for the same thing. this time the phone woke up my 3 month old.
Needless to say, the second lady didn't get a very nice answer. How many more calls am I going to get about this? I already have the everything package ($115 + / month), maybe they figure I will pay for those channels, too.
No thanks, but hey I'm glad you called. I've been meaning to cancel HBO (showtime, Starts, whatever) for months now. Can you please take care ofthat for me.
I like it, I'll try that tonight, I'm sure they'll call again. Maybe they'll call and give me a discount on a HD-DVR upgrade. That's something I've actually been asking for!
When talking to them just ask to be put on their "Do Not Call" list. Most of the time they just hang up. Also, e-mail/call DirecTV and tell them you do NOT want to get sales calls and either put you on the do not call list or remove you from their marketing list or whatever it will take.
When I am in the mood I will talk to then without being committed and string out the call, this way I am waisting their time as well. I actually had on start to cus me out for not buying the product, that was a 20 minute call. I ended the call with "You are willing to waist my time and I am willing to waist yours".
Just like with junk mail, if there is a business reply envelope --> I stuff it with the junk they sent me and send it back to them.
I have the answer. Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5z4Vs26-TI&mode=related&search=
As stated earlier the do not call list will not stop any company you have or are doing business with from calling you. However all companies have an internal do not call list which they can put you on as well but you have to specifically request it.
