Interesting problems with the cyberlink client software. If I have only my laptop monitor, everything works as expected. (tiny bit jerky on the HD playback but that is another story.)

I can also play HD content back if my Samsung SyncMaster 204B is the only display and connected via VGA.

I can not play back successfully if the 204B and the laptop monitor are both enabled. I typically get a small burst of recognizable sound then nothing. No video. Does not matter which display the program starts in nor which display the window might be moved to before play is pressed.

Sometimes, but not always I might get an Unknown error. Many times just the mouse remains in the "processing" icon, the old hourglass indicator.

If I have the monitor connected via DVI as the only display I typically get the "Can't play HD on DVI with out HDCP..." message.

Vista Ultimate up to date with released patches but not SP1 yet.

    Cheers,
    Tom

I've only tried this on my desktop P4 2.66GHz system so far. I'm able to play back a SD program I recorded OK, CPU utilization <20%. But two problems trying to play back anything that was in HD. 1st, CPU pegs out at 100% and video/audio choppy. Then shortly after the playback starts it stops and I get a message "Can't output to DVU, HDMI if PC or monitor doesn't support HDCP" and playback stops. I'll try my laptop later.

Tried my laptop, the one SD program I have on the HR20 played fine. HD however max's out that processor also (AMD Turon 1.8Ghz). I don't get the error about HDCP but I get another one for audio. If I play Big Brother CBS network program from KEYE-DT HD LIL, which my receiver says is a DD2.0 audio that plays fine (except for CPU being maxed so it's choppy), but if play Big Brother After Dark from Showtime Too, which my receiver also shows as DD2.0 I get "Can't play if digital audio output exists and audhodrive cannot apply SCMS". I get this message on other recordings, mostly movies from pay services like 300, Gladiator and Grind House.

Issue: Dates on the list show as "03/3" instead of "3/3" or "3/03".
Descriptions lists shows as "set to record" on dates in the past.

While the client was active playing something else I made two quick recordings on the HR20. When I stopped what was playing on the client and went back to my playlist the two new programs weren't shown, I had to exit the client and restart to get them to display.

If the intention is to prevent remote (outside of LAN) viewing, then kudos for some foresight .. I tried a trick that I thought would work and I got slapped in the face. I utilized remote desktop from work to attach to my PC at home. The software refused to work because with the error code:

Obviously the error message needs some tweaking, but also there is some security surrounding where the content is displayed.

When double clicking on the status bar to jump ahead (cool feature, IMHO) in a playing program, the video stutters when returning to live playing.

I was getting the same thing while siting infront of the PC. Unable to basically play anything. I upgraded my video drivers and am now getting audio and video.

Running Vista with SP1 I also get the "Unkown error" when using my dual monitor setup. I unplug one or the other and it works fine for VGA. DVI gets the HDCP message.

I was near the end of a recording and hit the 30 second skip button. The 'control line' with the icons for DVR control went away any my CPU processor went to 100% with DirecTV.EXE taking the most cycles and memory usage grew. After about 30 seconds utilitzation dropped back to normal and I got message "Server has disconnected. Please check Server status and has a Close button". I can hear the TV in the other room with the HR20 that's the server and it never lost a beat.

I hit close and it went back to the Server Selction screen with no server listed, hit scan and it still didn't find one. Exited client, restarted it and still can't find server. I'll try a reboot of PC.

Rebooting PC didn't help, needed to reboot HR20 to get client to see it again. I'll add a post in HR20 issue thread referring to this.

I would have liked to have been able to delete a program from the PC software after viewing it there. A possible feature add?

While watching a MPEG4 recording off a local channel, I "clicked ahead" a couple of times. After a 30 second slip, when the status bar disappeared, captioning appeared. I checked the menu settings, and captioning was off. After exiting the menu, the captioning went away. I was able to repeat this with multiple recordings.

    -Recording type: HD MPEG4
    -Channel number: 10 (Local CBS)
-Show information name/date/time: Late Night with David Letterman 7/11/07 11:35 PM
    -Plays on DVR: Yes
-Other DVR streams: None (DVR in standby)
    -Normal playback results: No issues
-Trickplay results: After a random seek forward followed by a 30 second slip, closed caption appears on the screen, even though it is turned off. I have verified this on several additional shows, listed in the comments section.

    ------ Configuration ----
    -CPU:Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
    -Ram:2.00 GB
    -OS:Vista Home Premium
    -OS Patch level: Current NR
    -Video card:256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO
    -Video card driver level:8.31.100.0
    -Server Network:linksys WRT54GL
    -Client Network:linksys WUSB54G

-Comments: I was able to reporduce this on 2 different SD recordings (Grease & HSM 2 both recorded last year) and a MPEG4 movie recording made last week (Excalibur)

Finally got around to timing the load and exit times for the application. After double clicking on the desktop icon, it takes 16.9 seconds for the directv logo animation to finally show up. During most of this wait time, my system is completely unresponsive... I am able to move the mouse cursor around the screen, but unable to click on anything in windows itself. I opened up task manager to view processor usage during loading of the application, but that too completely froze.

Upon exiting the application, my computer becomes completely unresponsive again for about 17.3 seconds.

These load and exit delays occur every single time I have used the application, but Vista always recovers afterwards and everything else works as it should. I have rebooted several times, no improvement.

While watching a recorded show, if you try and go back to the playlist to start playing back a program that had just started recording after you had already connected to the HR20, the new recording does not show up in the playlist (doesn't appear to make a request to refresh the playlist when you go back to it). Had to close out of the application and open it again for the currently recording program "The Daily Show" to show up in the playlist.

When viewing the playlist, going to the very bottom and expanding a folder which is the last item in the list, in this case South Park, I click on the folder to expand it but it does not expand on the screen (last item is still the South Park folder). I need to scroll up and then back down again to view all the episodes contained within the folder.

That is a very long time. It takes 3 seconds for the logo to appear and 7 to actually see the playlist. At no point during launch or exit of the app does the computer become unersponsive. Definitely sounds like something is messed up with the install on your machine.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled once, no effect. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

I was watching The Daily Show in a non-fullscreen window. Hit the maximize button in the application and waited for the GUI menu to disappear. After the GUI disappeared the mouse cursor remained. I'm not sure if it has disappeared previously, but this would be the desired functionality.

Upon reaching the end of the recording, the application will just exit back to the playlist. I'd like it better if it gave some sort of message that you've reached the end of the recording and still gives you the ability to rewind from the end of the recording.

Using HDNet's Test Pattern, the 30 second SLIP is anywhere from 26 to 31 seconds.
