WHy is the NHL considering expanding the playoffs to 20, maybe even 24 teams? Don't they realize that the current playoff races are the best ever? Don't they realize that if teams were fighting for the 10th or 12th spot there wouldn't be nearly as much interest in the races?

I am not in favor of playoff expansion butt he league has always ha a history of most teams making the playoffs. I realize that the "Original Six" were not really the original teams but four of those made the playoffs.

But I am with you on this----too many teams now if anything.

The NHL is considering it for only one reason...and it is always the same reason any of the sports leagues make a decision. Money!
That being said, I can't see the purpose in watering down the importance of the regular season by increasing the number of playoff participants. At one time, sixteen teams made the playoffs out of twenty one total. That's just plain ridiculous!
