I thought he retired from Devils broadcasting in July?
Whooops, missed the link above.
So I am a Rangers fan in the north burbs of Chicago. I am pleased I do not have the 50 game per year... hd thing from MSG, (as afar as I can tell I will get every Rangers game in HD, although I am going to see them in ST. Louis next month and I consider seeing the game in person to be SD, but that is a different matter) but I am none too happy that I will have to watch the HNIC feed of the Rangers-Habs game Saturday and particularly with that extra annoying NHL Net crawl. I sort of figure that once I pay for out of town broadcasts, and by purchasing CI, I do, I ought to be allowed to watch whatever feed I want. Two Saturdays ago I thought I would watch the replay on Sunday as we were out on Saturday night, but MSG cut parts of the game. At least the crawl was less obtrusive on MSG (I have sportspak) and they do not show the score from the game, unlike NHL Net replays on Sunday,
He sure will be missed on the Devs games....Cangiolosi is no Doc. At least we still haved Chico( toupee and all)
Thanx for the link......
Doc is missed on MSG. I wasn't sure what happened either. I wasn't tuned in at the beginning of the season this time around.
It was simply his desire to work less. The NBC deal lets him do one game a week or so and the playoffs.
Quick off topic Doc story.
I'm 8 years younger than Doc and I grew up 6 miles from MSG, but moved away in 1980.
A year or 2 later, I went back and saw a game he happened to be calling, filling in on Ranger's radio.
After the game, I just sat in my seat until the Garden cleared out.
An usher told me it was time to go, but I asked if I could just have a couple of minutes thinking of all the memories growing up there.
All alone, I saw Doc leaving the radio booth. Back then it was not up in the main press box section. It was half way up the lower bowl.
Doc saw me just looking around, walked over and said something like "Hi. First time you've been back here in awhile, huh"?
I answered yes, and he sat down and we talked hockey memories for another 10 minutes before the usher finally booted us both out.
Great memory of a great guy...... even if he did end up calling the hated Flyers and Devils!
Most people do not know that he mentioned on one of his telecasts that he is indeed a cancer survivor. I guess he just wants to work less and enjoy the time off, sort of a semi retirement...
STAY WELL DOC
Wow, an Oilers home HD feed.
Looks like a back haul feed from the stadium, but I thought all home teams had fiber to their studios? Interesting. But glad we have it.
Why ask why ? <lol>
It's almost 2012.ALL games should be in HD period regardless of who broadcasts them & they need to get on the ball & pony up for them.People want their sports in HD !
Oh I totally agree with you, I'm not complaining, just curious.
Another CBC HD game for the Jets/Flyers game this afternoon. We sure are getting a lot more Canadian HD feeds this year, than in past years.
Versus changed their game tonight from Bruins/Habs to Isles/Pens. You can probably guess why.
As of now, the Versus listings in the guide have NOT been updated to reflect the change. The CI listings have been updated to show the Bruins game, but I am still seeing the Pens game listed (though only one feed instead of two). I doubt the Pens game will be on CI sine Versus now has it. The game should still be available on the RSN's to those living in NY and Pittsburgh.
Well I knew it wasn't because it was a better match up. Didn't hear about the Crosby news until I read your post, figured that's what you meant and looked on NHL.com.
Hey Versus, not every hockey fan gives a crap about CRosbY.
I am also not a big Cindy Crosby fan.
Agreed. I for one don't care what Crosby does and I'm definitely not going to tune in to watch.
Don't speak too soon. Wednesday night's game of Jets/Capitals is not listed anywhere in the guide or on the directv center ice listings. Even though they carried last weeks Capitals/Jets game from CSN-MA.
The switch on Versus last night was probably fine for some, although their HD broadcast is just good, not great. The bettter game last night was the Bruins, and NESN's HD quality is fantastic.
There is nothing listed for 776, and as the game is listed on CSN in DC, I bet the game will be on 776/776-1. May not show up in the guide til 4 tomorrow, but I would guess that is where it will be. This has happened a number of times in the past, particularly with MSG.
It is showing on the schedule on 642 CSN Mid-Atlantic
