Holidays and Happenings runs Christmas music until Jan 7th. Taking it away on December 26 is stupid. People celebrate and have Christmas parties the entire week. Even Sirius XM runs their two channels on now until the new year. Please reconsider taking it off on 12/26 and bumping it a week.

(again, I have no official position in this argument since I drank the kool-aid and fulfill all obligations to receive 815 year round, but I know a lot of people who weren't happy that they weren't receiving it previous to today)

So are 801 and 815 now just trumpeting the same music, or are they different channels?

My guess is that ch. 801 is the temporary feed on the 101w satellite group until 12/26, and ch. 815 is the original 119w feed that's been broadcasting the "Holidays & Happenings" music all along.

I could be wrong, but I would have to preform the old coffee can experiment to know for sure.

Right. I'm sure it's just a temporary mirror. I'm liking it already.

There is a message that informs you about the holiday music on 801 in TV Mail. Just thought I would mention that for all you TV Mail lovers. ;)

We knew they'd give everyone access but I didn't think they would move the channel completely.

Nice to have some music for the holidays. :)

I think one channel of Xmas music on my TV service provider is sufficient. If I want more options, I use rely on XM radio, Slacker G2, iPod(s), one of the hundreds of Internet music channels, CDs or, God forbid, terrestrial radio. It is convenient to have some music channels on DirecTV, but it isn't why I subscribe to this service.

Yeah, it says the music is commerical-free. Hey, DirecTV, need a TV Mail copy editor?

Well it was three or four channels last year on XM without the need for a higher package.

...would really like it to run through New Year's Day. After all, the 12 days of Christmas STARTS 12/25.

I disagree. Sirius/XM pre-empts channels to play holiday music even though there are folks that listen to the pre-empted music and are not happy (me). That's why when my XM sub (3 radios) expires in March it won't be renewed.

Sirius/XM has a nasty habit of doing this all year. They are currently pre-empting "The Bridge" (XM27) for continuous Paul McCartney music (yuk).

At least DirecTV is only eliminating ONE channel (Big Band/Swing) for a month to offer holiday music to their subscribers. And they apparently are only going to do it once a year.

Really? One isn't enough? How many holiday channels can you listen to at once?

DITTO a "YUK" here as well - I'm also VERY pissed they just TOTALLY removed XM83/The Strobe on the radios.
BUT, I CAN listen to it on-line if I want - which REALLY helps in a fricken car...

I'm pretty sure the answer is one :D However, it's nice to have several channels to choose from with different types of music -- pop, country, carols.

It appears that the Country channel (808) is playing mostly Christmas music, too.
