It's easier for my wife to press 8-1-5 then anything else. And it just keeps on playing.... :D

Why not? Both satellite providers carry music channels and most cable systems do so. The Holiday channel seems to be quite popular around this time of year. When we had Adelphia Cable I looked forward to not only the Christmas music but also the patriotic music for July 4, the love songs for Valentine's day, the Irish music for St. Patrick's day, and even the German polkas for Octoberfest on the "Sounds of the Season" Music Choice channel.

I can't even figure the reasoning for DirecTV putting this channel only on the top tier programming level plus putting it on a satellite that many customers can't see( or hear in this case).

I wasn't knocking anyone's likes or dislikes. I was just shocked at how many people enjoy the music stations with so many technological alternatives. :)

I am in Socal.... have Choice Ultimate, so should be receiving this channel.... the representative I am on the phone with right now is claiming that the channel is "region specific" because 119 is used for local channels and what not. And apparently Southern California is not in the "good region"

Now I am talking to a supervisor who wants to charge me $124.98 ($49 for the dish, $50 up front fee, and some shipping and handling) for a dish that would receive this channel, even though I am paying for the channel...

On hold again, after I called that bull.

So after about 15 minutes on hold..... the supervisor comes back and offers me to take a credit card for the amount, and then credit it back to my account. Okay.... I can live with that. I am down $124.98, but will get it credited back. I stayed on the phone to make sure the credit happened.

But what a hassle just to get a channel I already pay for! Other then this, still happy with DirecTV.

Kudos to supervisor CHARLIE by the way, who got it done. I had to nag a bit, but it will happen.... they will be coming out on Saturday.

So I don't get it. Why is D* installing 3LNB when other channels are on other satellites the 3LNB can't see? I always thought they install 5LNB's as a standard. That's what I got with my install a few years ago.

Other than those few Sonic Tap channels, the only things on 119 are some SD locals and international channels. So for non-international subs in areas that don't have locals on 119, the 3LNB was standard. That became the standard before the switch to Sonic Tap, however.

I was also told today that there are several religious channels on 119, such as the Hope Channel. Now I have no interest in that channel, but the supervisor I talked to did say they had gotten several calls about those channels, as well as the sonic tap music channels, and that they had gotten manager approval for all of them to get the 5LNB dish.

They also did not understand why they put the music channels on 119, and they were expecting to get a LOT of calls right after Thanksgiving when everyone starts looking for the Holiday channel.

I called DirecTV and chewed them a new *** about this. Granted what most people are missing may or may not be important to them. Its the just the idea of people not getting what they pay for. I then chewed them a new *** again for them making the call last half an hour for what should've taken five minutes (the woman didn't know what she was doing) and for making it seem like they were doing me a favor by not charging me for what is obviously their error.

I don't understand why they can't just move the one channel over to 101?

From what I've read in this thread, depending on the package you subscribe to, its more then just one channel.

Well yeah, but, what I was getting at is why just the one? Might as well just move all the music channels back to the other sat.

Last year we had three or four holiday music channels. Looks like this year most of us are going to have none.

    Bummer!

I have XM Radio in the car, we had three if I remember correctly..... A popular channel with pop/rock versions of xmas songs, a classics channel with the well known classics, and a classical channel that just played classical xmas music.

I never had DTV until a few weeks ago, but my cable company also only had 1 holiday channel. It would be nice to have a few choices, but I will settle for the 1.

As we pretty much all assumed, looks like it will open up to everyone around Thanksgiving, as DirecTV's Twitter and Facebook replies have said that the holidays and happenings channel will be "available later near the end of month"

Again...why they are making this so difficult is beyond me. I have the 5LNB dish and a programming package that merits the channel being authorized, but still I know a lot of people who don't fit that criteria...and want the channel now! Even when XM was on DirecTV there wasn't this much channel restrictions based on subscription. It's just frustrating that something so simple and obvious they're blowing.
