i have an hr 24 dvr and would like to hook up an antenna to it. In the past (like 15 years ago) I remember having an antenna hooked up into my receiver. Is this not an option anymore. Their doesn’t seem to be anyplace to hook my coakle from antenna to dvr. Do I have to take one of the coakle from the cable so I would not have a dual channel dvr. I hope I’m making sense.
    TIA.

You would need an AM21 Off Air Tuner to hook up an antenna to on the HR24. DirecTV no longer sells it but you can find them on eBay.

    "coakle"??

If you're talking about an over-the-air antenna to bring in local broadcast stations, then there is no way to connect one directly to an HR24. The HR24 does not have the internal circuitry or software to deal with over-the-air broadcast signals. The only way to do it with an HR24 is via a now-discontinued separate unit called an AM21 (and later AM22) which converted the over-the-air signal into something the DirecTV unit could process.

In years past the old HR20 *DID* have the capability of handling over-the-air signals directly - they dropped this on later models as a cost savings in favor of the AM21 for those few who wanted this service.
