This thread scared me a little bit, as the 4 EHD's I have, started with my original ViP622. I moved to a Hopper with no issues, and have just now moved to a H3. Haven't had to do anything to the EHD's, but was worried about having to restore from a backup, if the H3 wouldn't then work with the recordings. Just did a restore to backup system to one of the EHD's and no issues. Wish the thread starter best of luck, glad restoring files from 3 years ago, still works.

If you are able to transfer the recordings back to your 622, you can use PVRExplorerPro to rip them to a Windows PC (see www.groups.yahoo.com/dishrip). Alternatively you can play them real-time to an Hauppauge PVR 1212 and save them via USB connection to a PC.

Have you had the Dish folks rehit your H3 to make sure it knows the EHD from your 622 IS compatible with the H3. It has been known to sometimes take multiple re-hits from Dish to bump the H3 into consciousness.

BTY, is your H3 a recent install, it sometimes takes several days for the H3 to get its act together and everything to work satisfactorily.

It has been said that you can format a fresh EHD with the H3 and use a PC running linux to copy the disharc folder from the old EHD to the new EHD and it will copy the recordings and the should be useful on the H3.
