Since I'm testing both and already have three DVRs on my SWM LNB, somthings gotta go.

I'm going to deactivate my HR20-700 and then add the HR24/H24. That'll give me seven tuners (HR21, HR23, HR24, H24). I'd like to keep my HR20 for a while but I can't see anyway around it that doesn't require a lot more work.

I'm also going run cat5 between my HR23 & HR21-100 so they can use MRV but be off the home network.

The HR24 and H24 will be on a Linksys Gigabit switch (along with my TV, Blu-ray).

It means I need to run another coax (garage to livingroom) and a cat5 (livingroom to bedroom) lines.

Who else is going to making changes to their systems?

    Mike

I will have to let either deactivate anH21 or an HR2X. It really depends on what needs to be tested. I would rather deactivate the H21.

Will the HR24 and H24 even have an ethernet port with built in DECA?

HR21 will goto one tuner here.. that will put me at 8 total.. after I see how the HR24 runs I'll decide what's going to my freind.. I'm hoping the HR21 will be leaving..
This will leave me with HR20-700 and HR24 on the main TV, H24 in bedroom, and HR20-700 upstairs..

It will go right next to my main DVR (HR21-200).

Will duplicate every series link from the HR21-200 and use the HR24 as my primary DVR, with the HR21-200 next to it as the backup.

Both will be HDMI connected to the same LCD.

They have to have some sort of ethernet connector for internet/DOD access.

I may shuffle around a unit or two in terms of location, and put the H24 in the bedroom....currently have an H21-100 there with DECA connectivity already...so it would give me a good comparison reference point.

Yeah, through DECA, with the internet feed to the SWM splitter.

I will have two DVR's, HR21-200/AM21 and HR24-x00, in the Den hooked up to the big TV. Who needs MRV!

Moved the H21-200 out to garage with new TV.

    EDIT
Plan on setting this up as AV1 as far as remote settings go.

I'm putting my H24 in my living room where my H21 is now. I'll then move my H21 to my bedroom, set all my HR2X's to RF and hide them. :)

Plan on just adding it to the current mix. I have 2 spare bedrooms and a pool room still available. Will need to get another TV or monitor. I hate when that happens! :hurah:

I have not figured that out yet. Will probably deactivate my R22, move my HR20 to the R22 location, and put the HR24 in the HR20's place (which gets more use than the R22).

But I have, and will continue to have, a hybrid system with some boxes on DECA and some on wired ethernet. I have seen nothing yet that indicates that will be a problem with just the HR24 (as opposed to the folks getting both H/HR24 who need a separate subnet). Some of the ethernet units are also non-SWM.

I'll probably move my DECA connected H21 to my son's bedroom and the H24 will be in my bedroom.

    Middle...
First off, I'm gonna add a second SWM8 and replace my legacy WB68. The HR24 and H24 will both run off that, isolated from the other four HR2x boxes connected to the first SWM8. For now, my daughter's R15 will stay in service, connected to 2 of the legacy ports on one of the SWM8's. When the field test is over, I'll remove it from service, move the HR20 (still going strong after 3+ years!) to her room, move the HR22-100 to my son's room, and put the HR24 into service in the living room on the big TV.

For now, the HR24 will likely go into the MBR and duplicate the recordings already being made on the HR21 in there. The location for the H24 is still being debated within the family. My wife wants it in the master bath, along with a new small flatscreen. I'm concerned about humidity so for now, it's likely to end up in the kitchen or perhaps the garage by my workbench. After the field test is over, I'll probably go ahead and try setting up things by the big tub for her.

Gonna hook H21 to my HDMI input on the computer monitor in my bedroom, and put H24 in its place in the LR connected to SageTV/HDPVR via component/spdif.

    Currently:
    2 HR20-700s each with a DEAC dongle.
    1 HR21-200 with DECA dongle
    1 H21-200
    [one SWM channel still unused]

With a HR24 coming, either the H21 will go or the HR21 could change to one tuner.
Since one TV will have at least two DVRs, I could leave the H21 + DECA dongle active for testing.

The H24 will go where the H23 is now. The H23 will bump the H20, which will be taken out of service. No network in that room for the H23.

The problem is getting the H24 on SWM. The four HRs are connected to the SWM8 so I'll have to put one on the WB68 and connect the H24 and the DECA line to that port on the SWM. Luckily the room where I have two HRs is behind my closet where all of the multiswitches are located and I can poke a couple of wires through the wall behind the TV. Should be pretty easy. Since the SWM16 isn't available yet, maybe I'll just have to get another SWM8.
