How can I autorecord all baseball games on a certain channel?

Thanks -- I agree that I could probably drop the HIGH-DEF and just select that in the categories. If I have RED SOX LIVE and maybe even throw in @, that probably eliminates the need to specify sports - baseball as a category.

Now if they only allowed us to select multiple categories that would be great...

Good Grief! Is there anythgin else you could add to that? :D

There is a specific 50 character limit, so you have to learn other ways to do the same things... Here is how...

There is zero reason to ever select HD if your search is limited to one channel. The unit will always record the HD channel only, so you will only get sd if its not available at all in HD. (especially if you have SD duplicates hidden)

Also, you can get rid of all that NNOT stuff by adding the word EVENTS to the AALL, and choosing Sports and Baseball as your categories filters....

It will give you the exact same recording results...... Trust me.. Just try it for a few weeks.. Don't worry about what does or does not show in the to do list or search results.. just see what it actually records... It will work... And by the way, Live is the reason your getting the Game day stuff right now. Again, dump it for events... The only reason to have live is if you don't want to catch a repeat if the live one doesn't record do to conflicts.

AALL BOSTON RED SOX EVENTS CCHAN 628 & Sports & Baseball

    Nope. I'm trying though!:p

Now that I know how to use it, doing an autorecord based on a search is great!

Interesting.. I always issues when I put CCHAN anywhere but the end....

Although, that was a long time ago, and they may have done some tweaking since then and never mentioned it.

OK, I hope this is my last question on this topic.

I came up with a great search that did exactly what I wanted: AALL BOSTON RED SOX EVENTS LIVE NNOT GAMEDAY REPORT CCHAN 628

The search retured only games!! I selected AUTORECORD, added 1 hour of padding to the end, and grabbed a Chimay Blue to celebrate my victory over my HR20.

After one or two sips, I checked the "To Do' list. None of the games that the search returned are showing up as scheduled to record!!!

Shouldn't they? Or is that normal for an autorecord?

My Replay seemed SO much easier to use....

    Thanks again.

The HD DVRs always schedule shows in the background. It can take up to 24 hours to fully populate the To Do list. Additionally, the AUTORECORDS often do not show up in the To Do list until shortly before they are ready to record. (Sometimes they are there days before, sometimes only 24 hours before, sometimes they just record seemingly without ever being in the To Do list that you can view.)

This can be unnerving. However, the autorecords that I have set up are very reliable about recording. The real drawback to this is that they can "bump" other programs that look like they are going to record. You don't realize they are lower priority and conflict with the autorecords until they don't record.

One other thing you can do is what I do with my similar search for Red Wings games. I *could* autorecord it BUT when I have I have ended up losing games due to being lower priority.

So what I do is just run that search (it will be in your "recent searches" list so think of it like a Saved Search) every 2 weeks or so and just record the games I want. If there is a conflict then I can make a note of the game in question and then set it up on my 2nd DVR that I use for overflow and conflicts.

Plus it reminds me of when upcoming games are so I don't forget. :)

Yes it's not autorecord set and forget but spending 2 minutes every couple weeks isn't a big deal for me and I've had to do that since my DirecTivo days since the Wishlists wouldn't autorecord the games properly either so it's just habit.

Thanks. A risk worth taking -- I've moved the Red Sox up the priority list to number 1. Now, if the wife loses an espisode or two of "So You Think You Can Dance" due to the Sox, it would probably just increase the intelligence level of our household!

It would increase the intelligence level, but it may have the opposite effect on the happiness level.
