My wife twice got this screen on the HR54. What did she press to get to it? For the life of me I can't access it on purpose! :D It's not under settings or system info which she definitely did not access and she did not run the system test. It's NOT SAT SIGNAL it's TUNER SIGNAL

    Try this:
Menu, Settings & Help, Settings, Satellite, View Signal Strength ( This is what is on the HR24 and I suspect it is the same or similar on your receiver).

It is not the same screen. Yes, There is a SAT_TUNERS screen under the "view signal strength" section of settings but this is a totally different screen and it requires 7 button presses tpo access it and terminating any existing recordings which we didn't have to do. It happened to me as well. Was just watching TV and went to the NOW PLAYING list and it came up. Neither one of us went through the 7 steps it takes to get there.

This is the "random" tuner signal strength screen I have seen twice while just watching TV:

This is the tuner signal strenght screen you get after 7 button press steps under menu-settings-etc etc . As you can see they are not the same:

So the question still remains: where did that FIRST screen come from and how do you access it?

By the way, do you know how to read that screen? As I recall, the numbers are for tuners from the swim switch that are not in use, and the ones that are in use are zero... but it’s even so long I’m not positive.

And trying that same command with a client (C61K with an HS17 or C41 with an HR44) produces a client info screen that does not show tuners. Have not tried directly on the HR44, may work the same as the HR54. It takes about 10 to 11 seconds of holding select to get the info screen.

You seem to be correct. I did some testing. Only 2 tuners ALWAYS show a signal and the others remain zero however the 2 tuners that show signal change depending on if I am recording. I just have 1 HR54 and 1 Client.

We are ALWAYS "1 foot in the grave." It's that 2nd foot you have to watch out for.
