So how do you sort your playlist?

IMO this is one of the most important things for me, I really hate anything but A-Z sort with the currently recording at the top. Newest - Oldest just does not work for me at all (even though I seem to see it at most peoples houses with DVRs).

We have not had a poll on this for awhile so I thought I would pose the question again.

Whatever the default setting is. Never needed to change it. If I knew what it was I would vote on it.

I bet you're not alone. The majority of customers are most likely comfortable with Date (newest) sort order, since it's the default and they got used to it.

If DirecTV comes out with the promised "whole-home" DVR next year, however, it might replace multiple HR's in a home and result in a very long playlist. I suspect at that point, many folks will find A-Z the fastest way to locate shows for playback. Just my .02.

    Newest to Oldest.

Very simple reason why. With kids in the house who record The Spongebob movie and iCarly shows, when they get old they go to the bottom of the list. Then I don't have to look at them. I wish there was a folder similar to the already existing folders for series recordings that I could name and be prompted when recording on where to put. When you push the list button you could choose what folder to open or all.

Maybe I am lazy, but it would be nice not to have to sort through my wife's Oprah and Dr. Phil, and the kids stuff just to find something I want to watch.

Always been a fan of newest to oldest, and my normal selection process is to page down to the middle of the list where the oldest current series are (normally a three week old CSI) and choose from among the 3 or 4 oldest shows. I think I would still follow the same process with a unified list.

The only way A-Z would really be much faster would be if there were triple tap access to each letter. Still don't think I would use it much.

    A-Z.

I don't understand how anyone could find a show any other way.

I have 80+ "series manager" settings between 2 dvrs. Most of what I watch is currently playing in this year. I really do not have a water cooler crowd aside of these forums here. But most of my other recordings are filler tv for down time on seasons. Kind of like a squirrel. I store my shows.
This might explain many viewers/ dvr'ers behavior, and why they keep the default new to old setting.

newest to oldest, but I would probably go A to Z if the shows were sorted oldest to newest in the folder.

You and I are the only ones who want this feature. I would love to dump all the kids shows in a kid's tab.

I don't think we are the only ones. Just keep asking, maybe someday it will happen.

I do newest to oldest as for most shows I want to be able to get to them quickly and with keeping a whole bunch of kiddie shows recorded I don't want to always have to cycle pass them to get to mine.

This similar request has been on the Wish List for a while. If you haven't already voted for it, you can do so at the link below. :)

Ability to create custom PLAYLIST folders (e.g., "MOM", "DAD", "KIDS"), and to designate inside which folder a recording should be displayed.
