I usually run at about 30-40% free space.

During the summer one of my receivers runs >50% but the other which has most of the summer SLs on it still runs 30-20%.

No the HR20 in my daughters room is usually 10-20%.

I was usually under 10%, but then I deleted a lot of stuff that we never watched and once it got to 25% free the DVR ran a lot faster and smoother.

I have to do frequent housekeeping because I have so many backups. It goes to 5% before I start deleting, sometimes. Doesn't this sort of thing mess up the poll? :)

    Stock HR20-100, usually sitting ~10-20%.
Record baseball almost every night, w/padding so that eats up a big chunk, but I almost always watch the game b4 going 2 bed. I was also recording basketball games, so there were times when I was near 5%.

Have just about cleared all of the network shows (most r done anyway), so that will reduce memory stress. I have several movies and a lot of Tudors and Sleeper Cell built up, and with Deadwood and OZ starting up this wknd, gonna have to do some watching to make room, else my daily baseball game may start knocking stuff out.

Have thought about getting another DVR and using it just 4 sports, but haven't made a move yet.

My SD Tivo is almost exclusively 4 the kids and their shows. I do very little managing there, I let my son handle it. Dunno what condition the mem is in, but since they r kids shows, stuff comes and goes often that it doesn't seem 2 b an issue. (Although I do have Clone Wars and Iron Man: Armored Adventures on the HR20....)

I run around 25% free on my 750g external. There's 4 movies that I WANT to watch, 7-8 that I will probably watch soon, plus a couple I might watch sometime if the mood hits me. And there's a few miscellaneous programs. I just need to buckle down and watch some movies!

Right now I've got 23% free on my 1TB eSata. LOTS of movies piled up since last fall that hopefully I'll get around to watching this summer before the fall TV season starts up again. Plus I record a lot of OTA HD since locals are not available here, so that takes up more space too.

I go small and roughly have 70% left at most times.

I prefer some ESPN shows early and that is it until much later when other re-runs come on

We have two HR's on the main TV, one with a stock drive the I get nervous if it gets less than 40% free. CBS and ABC shows go on this one. The second one has a 1TB Esata that does NBC and Fox and a bunch of filler shows from discovery, food, all of the planet Earth series. That one tends to stay about half full also.

I voted 50-60 ... but now that TV season is ending we are quickly burning through the recordings without much new content.

If you have more than one unit, what is your total availabe space divided by total recording space and give us that number.. so If you have one unit with nothing recorded on it, and the other is completely full, you have 50% on average.. This is more about available space in your house than on any given unit.. Maybe I should start over :D

Usually 60-70%. I started recording all the old episodes of Cold Case cause I had never seen them and had to quit recording the HD ones cause I was not watching them fast enough and was running out of space.

I'm guessing 40-50% across all of mine--at least before I go on a trip. Since I was gone for two weeks, that has dropped significantly. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

I voted 20 to 30%, as that is the average of my five DVRs. The range is from 10% to 50%.
