I've always thought it is pretty straight forward: On the home page click on Get DirecTV and then enter your zip code.

Select your package and then your gear.

If you want to compare channels, then click on the "Channel Lineup" near the top where it lists the different packages.

But I've always had better results talking with a CSR. So I recommend you select your package and gear online, then call in and see what a real person can do. If they don't offer you anything different, say 'thanks, I have to think about it some more' and call back Monday. You might just get a different answer. But if you get 'better' results on your first call, order it.

    Good luck.

I agree. A chat with a friendly CSR should get your better results with less pain and strain.

As suggested by others, call DirecTV. The CSR's really are helpful, especially for new customers.

    Should I sign up online?
How can I ask for offering in writing?
What is the clear exact minimum pricing for the 2nd year of contract?

How can I find out who is the installer? I want to make sure the Antenna is mounted on my 2nd story chimmey but NOT walk on my tile roof?

    Not true!
Your Order is emailed to you during your phone call, I ordered by phone :righton:
Also you are giving an account number the minute you order is placed you can go right to Directv.com and set up account on My Directv and view your pending order even before you are hooked up!

And you can add and Change the order as needed before the hook up takes place.

Call. Whereas peds48 recommend you do it online, I have always gotten more (or better) deals when talking with someone.

When you agree to a package/equipment, they transfer you to another person for verification.
Then you can go online and look at your account and see all the details.

As previously posted, the 2nd year depends on what you get during the first year. No way for any of us to tell you.

Difficult to find out who the installer will be. When they call to confirm install or when they show up, you walk them through what you want, need and expect. You're not a customer until the equipment is activated, so if they can't or won't install it where you want, say 'no thanks' and don't let them do the install. There shouldn't be any walking on the roof because OSHA requires fall protection for anything over 6' and most installers aren't prepared for that. Edge of the roof installs are common because of safety reasons. Chimney? I can't discuss that but it will have to be accessible from a ladder for your typical install. You don't have a location listed. Will a chimney install be easy for you to reach in case you have snow?

Agree, if you want special equipment like additional HD DVRs or HD receivers to go with your Genie instead of Clients, Online you will be paying full price for them, At least a CSR can give you a deal where as a computer can't!

If I would have ordered my system online I would have paid $400 upfront. Instead I paid $260

This is true, But you will still be issued an account number before the install.

But correct this doesn't mean you can't cancel before activation if something is not right and you would be getting a full refund.

Sheesh, you are really making this harder than it ever is.

DirecTV's phone number is right on their web page.

who is the actual installer in North San Jose / Milpitas area? I like to contact them first.
I like to make sure they will install the dish on my chimney without walking on my tile roof.
    Thank you.

OK guys, it is time to cut the leash!

to the OP, if you want to get DirecTV and have all those requirements, you will need to go to an installing DirecTV retailer. Check you Yellow Pages or Google or whatever.

What we don't need to do is feed you info that is readily available to you already, nor to feed your lack of willingness to do practically anything yourself.

Why not wait until they get there and discussed with them. if there is no LOS from the chimney, this is a moot point
