I have an HR-20-700 with a FreeAgent external 750Gb HD.
It has been working fine for the 3 weeks that I have had it.
    0x17e on 7/24 - all signals between 75 and 89 - no cloud.
I have recorded about 20 hours of mixed SD and HD.
Today, CBS 60 minutes was recorded SD on schedule.
When I went to PLAY it I was offered two options.
    It would not PLAY
The eSata cable is shaved and well supported and the eSata HD connection is 100%

    Any ideas?

The only idea... is that it was a failed record.
    For what ever reason.

Is this happening on other recordings... or just this one?

Before concluding that your 60 Minutes recording is trashed, try resetting your DVR. It might play after a reset.

This is the first time it has happened....subsequent recordings this evening worked fine.

This bug is pretty rare, but it still shows up from time to time. I agree, reset your DVR before getting rid of the recording. Let us know how it goes!

I'll chime in with the others -- try a reset and you will most likely either be able to play the problem recordings, or find that they have been deleted from your playlist.

I had this problem far too regularly when the HR20 was young, but have not seen it since March. (Posting this will of course guarantee an unplayable recording today.)

This has happened approx. 3 times with my HR20-700 over the past week or so. I finally ended up deleting the titles. FWIW, I'm not using an external hard drive.

EDIT: Something else bizarre mine is doing is when you begin playing a new title it shows your current position at the beginning of the recording, but I have to manually rewind to get to the beginning(because I'm actually at the end), so when it ends up at the beginning of the show my status bar at the bottom shows my current time as something like "- 23:45". Pretty weird.

well, I did a MENU RESET as suggested...

60 minutes started playing BUT it was NOT 60 minutes.....some reality show...banner said "60 Minutes"
attempted to FFWD and after 2nd FFWD I got the same offer....DELETE YES or NO!!
    I just deleted the recording.

Ginji, now that you mention it........when I return to a previously recorded and partially watched recording, I am almost sure it started where I stopped watching.......now it returns to the beginning of the recording......hhhmmmm!!!

just checked again on old recordings (from Saturday) and it re-starts where I left off.....

Same problem here. Had it a week, first time it's happened. By reset, do you mean the red button beside the card?
